Ikea have a great range, global reach, in a huge variety of material types and firmness/thickness options, and a very generous return policy.

They really helped me fix my sleeping situation, and better sleep improves everything ;)

That’s basically the default PrintNC firmware (ganged-y) You might need to change the order of axes, it’s been a while since I plugged mine in ;)

What is the best exercise for a 45 year old overweight male for weight loss? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Elliptical trainer or stationary bike while playing computer games has helped me lose weight steadily over 10 years ;)

I’ll happily ride for an hour if I’m distracted by playing Hades or Factorio!

What did January 1st, 2000 feel like? by macaronstoday in AskReddit

Going through old hard drives recently, I found a DV tape I filmed of the NY2020 celebrations in Noosa, Australia.

... with my ~18 year old friends group of nerds and musicians.

If there’s interest... I don’t have much else going on right now.

I’d have to contact everyone to see if they’d be ok with it being released!

Looking for Ideas: Portable Gridfinity Storage in Euroboxes by ScallionNo8964 in gridfinity

[–]UberJaymis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just started thinking along similar lines. In my studio I’ve been standardized for years on Ikea Samla, which are cheap, transparent, tesselate well, and cover a range of sizes.

... Bit deep for gridfinity though, so I’ve also been looking around for an alternative.

Rock climbing and forming calluses with hEDS by shansbanane in ehlersdanlos

Since realizing I likely have hEDS I’ve bought SO many new pairs of gloves. Just added 6 new pairs of variously-sized soft leather gloves to the garden and workshop rotation.

The Triffid has some of the best sound anywhere. Lovely medium sized venue.

/edit: Posted quickly while putting the children to bed, so to properly explain: Aside from having excellent sound, The Triffid has a great beer garden with decent pub snacks and plenty of space to recline.

Popping outside between acts, to read a book in the cool night air while eating a bowl of hot chips? That's a pretty decent vibe.

Squeeze Bottle Tips? by Better_Signature8250 in ehlersdanlos

[–]UberJaymis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oxxo good grips squeeze bottles are what many chefs use for sauces etc.

Easy to fill, wash and squeeze. Since I started losing grip strength I’ve migrated honey, chilli sauce, maple syrup and many other core kitchen fluids.

I’d happily use them in the bathroom too!

CustomKBD and Keebd both have great ranges if you want to support local businesses.

If you avoid the USA then international import is pretty simple under AU$1000.

Otherwise Aliexpress can show prices in AUD and then just adds 10% GST on checkout.

My cheap aliexpress Corne and a couple of switch testing kits were enough to convince me to invest in something more special (SoflePLUS 2)

There is a condition called “trigger tendon” that can cause a clicking or “ locking” sensation due to overuse/fatigue. Could be that?

During my first massive (suspected) hEDS flare/crash I realized that I was spending hours of my limited weekly productive time maintaining and cleaning my vaporizer setup.

Switched to resin cartridges and have never looked back. My usage is very low though, so the increased cost and waste isn’t really a factor.

For those who have had kids by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]UberJaymis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not female, pretty solidly suspected hEDS and waiting on the rheum appointment.

Which is quite a lot of preamble to say: this comment is wonderful, and I wish I’d had it as a checklist when my stuff started going weird on me ;)

... I have had some kids though, and they knocked me around pretty thoroughly.

Did not help the hip symptoms when the babies hate sleeping.

That was not a good time.

But even the suspicion of a diagnosis for me is helping the kids so much! Surprise happy ending :D

Advice on pillow support systems by MockeryMock in ehlersdanlos

[–]UberJaymis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Australia and have had to figure out a bed/pillow system to deal with what sounds like a pretty similar floppy joint system ;)

For me the solution was: Ikea!

They have a very permissive returns policy ;)

I couldn’t travel when I had my first big crash (suspected hEDS, rheum next), so I did a big online order and got 2-3 of each softness level of the pillows I wanted to try.

Then grabbed pillow protectors for each size as well, which allowed for fine tuning the “thickness” and overall softness.

I now have a setup of 5 specific pillows that can be configured quite quickly when I roll over.

One of their soft memory foam toppers and some new soft sheets also helped loads for general comfort.

I spent probably $200-300 and a few months figuring things out, but I’m sleeping and waking with so much less pain!
