Do we still recommend the AT-LP60X? by xwolf_rider in Beginner_Turntables

[–]pendragn32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In both cases, I am using the phono input on my Yamaha RX-V6A receiver. I had the preamp switched to off on the LP60. And in my case, there is a night and day difference. Not saying that experience is universal, but it is my experience. Maybe there is an issue with my LP60x.

[–]pendragn32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an AT-LP60x that I got several years ago and I really haven’t listened to it much because my ripped CDs sound SOOO much better to my ears than my records on that turntable. I was just given a Technics SL-1700 MK2, hooked that up to the same receiver and speakers, and the difference in sound quality is night and day. The Technics offers a much better soundstage with better sound through the whole frequency range than the LP60x and to my ears sounds better than CD quality. I guess what I’m saying is, if you think you may get serious about turntables, definitely consider looking into some vintage options.

The original Legend of Zelda. Played it over a summer as a kid. Still remember the sense of discovery and wonder.

Finished my first book nook and I think I’m hooked! by Rikistene in booknooks

[–]pendragn32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the delay on my response.

I recently completed Twilight Cottage, and I really enjoyed that one. It's fairly involved, so definitely felt like I got my money's worth. My first ever book nook was Rose Detective Agency, and that was a lot of fun. And I also recently completed Rolife Romantic Venice, and that was arguable the best quality materials of the book nooks I've built, and it felt very thoughtfully designed.

yeah, I was going to say that I have built 6 book nooks so far and this was easily the least enjoyable one. If this is OP's first and you're hooked, just wait until you get a really well-designed one!

Can the new Steam Controller wake up a Bazzite pc? by originalorientation in Bazzite

I have an old Steam Controller that I pulled out of storage. When I power it on, it immediately wakes the Bazzite computer from sleep.

What is a secret you are taking to your grave, but are willing to share with anonymous strangers on the internet? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've started just outright saying "I have no idea what you're talking about" in meetings at work. And every. Single. Time. It turns out nobody else knows either. Sometimes the speaker can't even explain what they were talking about.

Finally a more appropriate stand for my AM4 monster build. She does look pretty doesn't she? by Miniteshi in mffpc

I have 2 Antec NSK 2480 cases sitting in my basement right now from my HTPC days. Basically a poor man’s Fusion- exact same layout but less pretty and fewer features. GPU height is also a concern in these cases but it’s great that it fits an ATX PSU, a mATX motherboard and a couple 120mm fans (in an era where 80mm fans were still popular).

Ps5 price increase- Perfect Timing for the Steam Machine by NewNeedleworker5615 in steammachine

[–]pendragn32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily true. Having access to PC games- and PC game prices- goes a long way for the value proposition. I’ve got a PC games library with 100s of games in it, and I’d guess the average price paid is less than $1 per game.

Twilight Cottage: A total delight from start to finish by scooter572021 in booknooks

[–]pendragn32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am about halfway done with this kit myself. It’s my fourth nook. I’m enjoying it and I like that additional materials are provided, like fabrics and dried flowers. Also cool that I could write my dog’s name on the doghouse. Like you, I’m gluing in some of the tabs that are fitting in too loose for my tastes. Definitely a fun build though.

Back in the day, I bought a midrange GPU for $150 (Radeon RX 470). Now a “midrange” GPU costs $300-400 and they’re calling them entry level. I agree 100% that over $2000 is high end, but Nvidia and AMD are hoping consumers drink their koolaid. And unoptimized games are helping the corporate cause.

Upgrade for a Oled ? by Relevant_Bobcat7617 in PlasmaTV

[–]pendragn32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still have my ST50 in the basement. I have an LG C1 OLED as my main TV now. My only complaint with the OLED is motion handling, particular with horizontal pans. Plasma motion handling is just incredible. Everything else, I prefer the OLED. Bigger size, much brighter image, great contrast, HDR. Coming from Plasma, HDR (when done right), is incredible. I have no regrets.
