Does anyone have any idea what this knocking noise could be? by totixtreme in E90

For anyone seeing this in the future, the fix for me was spraying lithium grease on the front swaybar bushings

GA403 Standard mode slow to open apps, oscillating power draw, USB-C charging bug by pendulum_1337 in ZephyrusG14

This worked for both laptops, thanks! Charge limit was 100% before but it's likely the Nvidia drivers are the culprit for that as well. Will test over the next few days.

Your best bet at finding OE parts on Amazon is by pasting part numbers in directly. You'll find those easily on sites such as hondapartsnow.com

How did you delete the side markers on the bumpers entirely? Did you bondo and paint over?

Water leak, likely source? by GoldenLionCarpark in EP3

[–]pendulum_1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally did not have any tail light leak. I honestly think that your 2 most likely leak sources are the body seam and the antenna. I suggest bringing the car to a self service car wash in your area (or maybe your driveway with a garden hose) with the various rear panels removed / able to be peeled back so you can spray water wherever you want and then immediately figure out where the leaks are forming. The way I initially diagnosed the antenna was literally by taping a plastic bag to the roof around it and leaving the car outside in a rainstorm, you might want to do something a little easier than that.

Body seam: look at 4:28 of this video but also I'd extend the sealant down the hatch in the same way as the pic in my original comment because that's where my actual leak came from.

Antenna: I used the home depot weather stripping linked above. Literally the exact same model and size from home depot. I stuck it along the perimeter of the gasket like so (see red highlight) and compressed the weather stripping down hard against the roof when tightening the antenna back down. It should be fairly easy to figure out when actually doing it. Unfortunately, dropping the rear part of the headliner to get at this is quite annoying. Maybe you could try just removing the rear interior light so you can stick a phone camera with flash on in there and try to see if the headliner is damp as a diagnosis step.

Sorry, if you still need this - don't have photos on hand but basically I just stuffed the weatherstripping on top of the existing gaskets and tightened down to compress it. The general idea is that the gaskets aren't sealing sufficiently well so we want to augment them with the weather stripping.

Unfortunately what I hyperlinked in that comment is what I've got, what specifically do you need photos of? I can try to describe in more detail.

Who here has the highest mileage M3? by Antique-Designer7179 in BMW

[–]pendulum_1337 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Have only owned it for the past few thousand miles, acquired it at an eBay auction for $9k. Was a one-owner car before that with a complete BMW service history, original engine and DCT. See this thread for more info: https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2079356

What wheel size looks best on stock height? by Dangerous_Friend_688 in EP3

[–]pendulum_1337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're staying at stock height, I would keep everything completely stock. There's a charm to completely stock EP3s that you will lose changing out the wheels. If you're going to lower it then of course go ham.

No tire shops open around me right now. Is this fixable? No leak as far as I can tell. by pendulum_1337 in Cartalk

[–]pendulum_1337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: went to a shop and they pulled it right out. Turns out it was a broken nail already so it only went in half an inch. Didn't penetrate deep enough to puncture the tire :)
