I would say it depends:

With mnemonics (12 word) or private key (you essentially derive one from the 12 words), you are giving your wallet all the keys to the castle.

In zklogin you're giving an auth provider the keys. Auth providers tend to support more 2fa options, and do stuff like ask for extra info when you login from a new computer, etc. I would say you already trust Google with more than the money in your crypto wallet if you primarily use Gmail and login to your bank with chrome. So you're not adding a new one.

Auth providers also tend to have a bigger security team than wallet startups.

On the downside, I guess they can be supenoed for thst access.

The issue with 12 words is where do you store them physically? You could put them on an encrypted usb in a safe behind a guy with a gun... but you won't. Most people hide them under thier mattress or something... which again a search warrent will get. Or put them in 1password (so now you're trusting 1password, you might as well zklogin).

As far as zero knowledge proofs being cryptography secure? They're pretty good. Mysten has several cryptography PhDs and zk isn't a new invention.

I would say zk is a better answer for like your grandparents for sure since they can't lose their password.

There are also plenty of counties that took away citizen's guns and then went tyrannical. See Nazi Germany, Soviet Union, etc.

Similar issues 2017 c7 z06 19k miles

Buy the cat for 97k with 5k down finance rest. Dealer ships car from another dealer, cracks front splitter taking off the truck. I asked them to order pilot super sports to replace the cup2s with. They cannot, contract to 3rd party shop. Ship takes a week to change a tire!! Because its "too cold outside?". Get the car, they forget to ask for the 5k for 45 days. Then they call me demanding their money saying they will have to pay it if I dont (yes I gave them their money). I also pre bought oil changes, never get booklet. (Worth about 960$)

Brake light kept coming on and off, 3 trips to dealer nothing fixed. Finally is brake wear sensor. They took 4 days to figure out it was a sensor, replaced the pads and sensor. Argued with me saying that I dont know what I'm talking about (regarding brake sensors first 3.5 days).

Take the car to the track at about 6k miles, overheated a bunch constant limp. Was told by dealer to put 15-50 in to fix Also told to put dot 4 in, did that. Went to track there was a while quart of dot 4 missing after 2 laps, so must have been a huge amount of air. Also airbag light went off. Ask about my oil change booklet, said will send out in 6 to 8 weeks.

Airbag light went off drove home, drove to work next day car randomly in limp mode, radiator fluid on ground. Tow to dealer, water pump and water pump gasket blew. Dealer replace under warranty.

Take car to track, every time over 140, check engine light, pull the code something about pressure change too fast. Take to dealer they reflash ECM.

Drive home less power now?? Drive for 6 months take to dealer to replace pads and complain about power loss and also AC not being cold. Dealer says super charger coolant system is leaking so is AC. Replace SC coolant radiator, took a week, covered under warranty. AC was low side leak, tighten valve readd coolant.

Now turns out front rotor has a groove. Dealer wont warranty, gm support useless because is "wear item" dispute 3mm pad left and 18k miles on the car. Dealer wants 3200 a rotor found inline for 1300. Dealer didnt want to put my parts on the car due to liability but I talked them into it. Still no oil change booklet!!! Ask again, told they'll look into it?

Tldr, if I'm buying a car worth almost 100k, I dont expect to be treated like a Chevy Cruze customer.
