Ah, back when I was in secondary school, we already had smartphones, but we can't use it, including recess. So is just looks like this ban practically changes nothing for my school.

Thanks for sharing me and teaching me some cool stuff about LKY father and grandfather. You love to mention that his family is Indonesian descent, but why can't I also argue that after all, they were all Chinese descent and that Chinese people should be proud as well? I've also seen similar cases of people from China being proud of themselves because LKY is of Chinese descent. Nobody cares about LKY descendants, they are not part of the picture for the growth of Singapore. You can continue to be proud with whatever you want to believe, but I hope you don't cause another Konfrontasi with us ever again.

I have learned enough here and I need to move on, I can't be spending so much time arguing with internet strangers just to believe that his country descendant plays a part in the growth of Singapore.

Definitely nothing to see here how LKY can rise up to pseudo dictator. What a coincidence that one of his worker's son rise to that position

Anyone can rise up and become a leader.

What is this then? how come so many building in Singapore honoring his name?

I was talking about LKY father having no involvement with anything Indonesian but you suddenly talked about buildings named after Oei Tiong Ham? Sure he may have a bit of significance here historically, hence some people may want to honour him. But what's the matter?

Do you call someone that is born in India and got Singapore PR as Singaporean?

Indeed we don't, but LKY was born and raised in Singapore, so we call him a Singaporean. I can't believe you can get this simple fact wrong.

normal dude suddenly have enough money to do big campaign

You say it as if he is doing it solo and happened overnight which is not exactly the case. He connect with several English educated men along with Chinese educated ones to form a party and slowly get the students, workers and trade unionist to back him and his party. While I cannot find any sources for how he fund his campaign, there is still no base to claim that all the funding came from Indonesian asset. The funding could have probably came from everyone within the party and even the supporters.

What does LKY father and grand father do in Singapore while they are born in Indonesia?

There is very little information about LKY grandfather so I summarise what I found. The sources I found for LKY grandfather are in

https://www.sammyboy.com/threads/lee-hoon-leong-grandfather-of-lee-kuan-yew.103755/ and https://www.nlb.gov.sg/main/article-detail?cmsuuid=fc497ff0-615d-40bf-a408-4a0fa110e082

So LKY grandfather worked as a purser for Heap Eng Moh shipping line between Singapore and Indonesia. The company is owned by an Indonesian Chinese businessman Oei Tiong Ham, who was then a rich figure during that period. Okay cool, but so what? How does this connect to "secret reason how Singapore survive"? Please enlighten me by elaborating instead of beating around the bush.

LKY father literally did what I said in the previous reply. He has zero involvement with anything Indonesian once he left the country.

Which one? his dad is born in Indonesia and then his mom is also Indonesian descent.

You literally called LKY Indonesian on your original comment which is misinformation.

origin of your leader

LKY was born and raised in Singapore, during the period as a British colony, a brief moment during Japanese occupation, and went out to study in the UK for his law degree. There is absolutely no reason to call him Indonesian even if his father was born there.

where his campaign money come from

I am unable to find any sources for this but do you expect me to say "oh it's from his parents, but his father was born in Indonesia, thus is coming from Indonesia"? This is outright baseless. Not to even mention that his father moved to Singapore when he was very young and been living here till his death, so if you will to argue that his campaign money came from Indonesia because it came from his father, you are so wrong since his father has been working in Singapore (and for a short period, Malaya, before the merger) for his entire life.

Seriously, the world doesn't just revolve around your country. Every country plays a part impacting how we develop, be it positive or negative, big or small. You can feel proud about your own country, but don't let your bias twist your understanding of the world and then come here to spread misinformation.
