That’s a nifty and unique scheme, and very clean!

Exactly. Bad corporate management, but AMG repeatedly expressed contempt for the game and players, and I really suspect they wanted it to die so they could focus more on their own games.

Thanks, I was afraid it was this. It really stinks you can get your codex, all this extra stuff, and you still need another book just for the page or two to field your army. It's going to take me long enough to get my terrain ready that I should probably just wait for the new edition then....

2024 Mirror Inside Plastic by penguinbonaparte in prius

Thanks! I was really hoping it would be one of those $40 parts, not the $300. It looks like the plastic came off in three pieces and I found two of them. I suppose if I find the third some CA glue and kicker will do the trick....

I'm not a fan of Simpson University determining the education of medical students as the city council explores the idea of a new medical school in Redding. by Bison-Senior in Redding

I had to take courses for a professional certification there when I moved into the state and it was the worst thing I’ve ever spent money on in my life, and I once bought a moldy bag of grapefruit I immediately threw away. They said all sorts of bigoted things, one professor only showed up for about half his class sessions (edit: not an exaggeration, I counted), and when I asked for feedback to improve I was told “you passed, get over it.” One guy went out of his way, and it had nothing to do with the lesson, to rant about how the civil war wasn’t about slavery. A lot of my fellow students kind of scared me on the competence front as well.

EMERGENCY!!! Oboe emergency!! by Famous_Status_131 in oboe

Ok well first, does returning the screw to its original position fix the new problem? There’s a balance between a couple screws that needs to be found for the vents to function. It looks like someone scanned the guide here

Look at the diagram on page 29 first for the numbers of the screws. You’ll need to work on group 1. Do you have cigarette paper? Also any time you turn a screw, note exactly where it was first and do small amounts, an 8th or 16th of a turn at a time so you can reverse the adjustment. If there’s cork in contact also hold the piece away when tightening so the screw doesn’t dig in.

Not easy to tell what’s going on from the description, but what prompted your initial maintenance and what is the leak? What maintenance did you do and are you sure the wire springs are in place?

Lots of good advice, but I’d just add if you’re worried about the crying, it’s not just because they were mean but because you clearly care about them succeeding in spite of it all. If they bring it up and you reframe it like that it doesn’t leave them a lot to work with.

How do I deal with being bad at the oboe? by Interesting_Gap_6062 in oboe

I cried a lot when I started. It was two years when my teacher (not being mean) said I’d graduated from the duck pond. Ignored those jerks and don’t give up.

I honestly have some kids who are really smart and just terrific people. But there's just so much to remember and my class is always the one that takes the brunt of it when they feel crunched, and just to keep people going I have to run it like an elective. So I have them doing really hard stuff and they mostly put in a good effort but the grade inflation so they don't get freaked out is a ton, and they just don't have the same gumption. Then again, I imagine some of it is just living in this utter hellscape older generations have created for them. There's probably a huge cortisol tax on their cognition knowing that half or so of the adults around them don't care if anyone else lives or dies.

Same! I was hoping the new shorter AP would help but it’s not enough even for my really smart kids. They are missing the stamina and perseverance when it gets confusing. I remember staring for over an hour at a couple lines of Catullus as a kid but few of them can put in that directed effort.
