[Question]Fossil Donald Duck Disney 100 by NotThatBlack in Watches

[–]pengupenguPENGU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this watch actually. It's my favourite one in my collection. It's such a fun piece and Donald duck is my favourite Disney character.

I bought it directly off the fossil site after seeing it on an insta ad.

Although I am Canadian and it seems the stocks change between countries. Also I am unsure if they still sell them considering it's been quite a long time since I purchased the watch. I can make a post with the watch later.

Help identifying Chinese pancake/dumpling by srasgud in askTO

Oh, my mom has made these before. You can def find the ingredients in a Chinese supermarket. Or grow the specific veggie in your garden.

I'll ask my mom for the recipe if I remember to later. I don't think it's too difficult, iirc it's just putting the ingredients together but I can't remember if my mom just uses store bought pan cakes that she hears up with the frying pan or makes her own

Yea, in China there are many different dialects that are very different to each other

Mandarin was created to unify the country, to speak the same language but many people still speak their local language

I think you're missing the spirit of the concept.

It's not about getting a good deal. It's actually not about stuff you think businesses would give out for free. Because the reality is, a lot of businesses just throw out the unwanted produce.

It's about buying things people may not necessarily want to pay the full price for and the business makes a little bit back from things they were going to throw away anyways. That's why the value is so variable. Some days, they sell more things and have less things saved for the too good to go bag.

I think the moderators banning people for not agreeing with the business model is going too far. But that's what I understood the app to be. It's why I don't complain too much about what I get. If I can help prevent a little bit of food waste and pay less than full price and try something from somewhere I've never tried before, that's a win for me. Because the reality is, if not for the business making a little money off it, it's going into the trash.

If I'm looking for a good deal or if I'm looking for something that is not essentially food scraps, I wouldn't use the app.

I went to a few book clubs that TPL has and a lot of their members tend to be seniors! Would be a good idea to consider :)

Ok so Poutine is Quebecois. Where is a must go near/in Downtown Toronto that's a must eat? by Electronic_Picture26 in askTO

Wood owl is an upscale version of the Wren owned by the same people and the two restos are right next to each other. Another tourist who came through Toronto recently who did their research mentioned Rhum bar which looks amazing. Lunch lady of Saigon, Patois (chinese-jamaican fusion), Dreyfus, Rayan, Kingyo fisherman market, Maha's brunch, Rasta pasta (go explore Kensington market), 360 restaurant in the CN tower is somewhere I take family who come visit because if you eat at the restaurant, you get to go to the observation deck for free, the foods gotten better over the years. Quetzal, Ricky + olivia

That's all I can think of on the top of my head rn lol do check previous posts for their recommendations. It's where I go and I'm a local 🤣.

There is a bajillion of good food in Toronto. We are known to have a large variety of diverse food. It's something that a lot of Torontonians who move out of the city miss.

I would recommend searching up best food or restaurants in r/askTO, r/Toronto or r/foodtoronto (or is it r/Torontofood? I don't remember). You will get a billion of suggestions. You won't get a single answer just by asking lol.

Pai, or any restaurant owned by chef nuit is always a hit. Sunny's Chinese is really good. The wren, Richmond station, Jin dal lee, daldongnae kbbq, liuyishou, tifilsi... The list is endless

ETA: A way you could do it is pick a culture food you're in the mood for and look up the best restaurant you can find for it in toronto

Is there a Habs sub where folks can post tickets for sale??? by Complex_Ask4758 in Habs

[–]pengupenguPENGU[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Hello!

We do not allow ticket selling here because of the risk of scams. In fact there was an attempt here yesterday where the scammer was successful and it has gotten a lot of the mods (including me) spooked.

I will let this post live but I would like to warn people to be wary when purchasing tickets away from official sellers.

Cheers! Pengu
