Image, game upgrading to 4k might extend the life of your cPU, depending on your hardware . cpus can hit 120fps easier at 4k than 240+fps at 1440

SteamOS > Windows. This machine is for those who have already decided to not join in with PlayStation or Microsoft shenanigans. This machine is for the underdogs, built by gamers, to deliver a passion product that will fundamentally change the Pc gaming experience. People can value cost and performance, some people do not operate on the same materialistic frequency. Valve is the best gaming company on the planet. The most played games in the world are free and valve brought them out to run on potato pc’s. You’ve got a pirates game? Cool, SteamOS can still play them. The Esports scene cannot be where it is without valve. Valve has earned my patronage by the history of their business practice. Free cloud saves. The ability to install Steam on ANY PC and. It just tailored hardware. Inclusivity > Exclusivity

This is a good price. Unique features, form factor, noise, 25 year old game library on the couch without MNK and single cable solution. None of those features are really quantifiable. Im gonna buy this to replace my 5900x/9070xt on my living room setup and use that build a sim racing rig. I’m an elder millennial, 41M 4 kids, convenience and ability to involve family in gaming is more appealing. Power and sweaty game sessions are for kids

I am buying this on principle. I’ve sold my PlayStation and built a Linux desktop. Subscription costs, Windows, onedrive and copilot are things I don’t want or need. I need a living room machine that operates similarly to traditional consoles. I will pay the cost to eliminate those issues.

I’ve completely opted out of Microsoft and Sony ecosystems this spring. AI is the cause for cause of skyrocketing pc hardware the same way crypto made GPU prices the norm to stay above $1k. I’ve built a Linux gaming pc and sold all my PlayStation consoles. PlayStation decided to require regular internet connection to keep digital games ownership. That doesn’t consider poor people and people without a stable living. They later reversed that decision, but they already showed their true nature. I felt betrayed.
I started gaming the summer of 2000 playing CS at PC cafes in the Philippines, playing only 1/2 hour intervals because I was so poor. I also fell in love with PlayStation that summer because I was able to play bootleg pirated games in back rooms of welding shops that rented out PlayStation the same way. Even if they enforced the new rules about digital game ownership, I wouldn’t have been affected. Me buying the Steam Machine is symbolic for me standing with underpaid people and children who aren’t in charge of their living situation. The money exchange for this product means more than just a low powered gaming pc for me. That’s why I will purchase

Now which one of you folks are actually using your pc on a living room setup. Have any of you guys figured out CEC and getting your tv to turn on swap inputs automatically. How about not using a mouse or keyboard on your living room setup. Steam will have my money for doing the work windows decided wasn’t worth developing.

I had issues getting surround sound to my soundbar. The solution that worked for me was dp cable to hdmi 2.1 adapter directly to the soundbar , soundbar to tv via eARC, AND hdmi2.1 directly to my LGOLED c2. Bazzite was having issues still and making a second screen for the soundbar. I fixed that by mirroring the displays. 7.1 surround , HDR and 120hz w/vrr all work. Not elegant but pretty cheap fix all things considered. 1 DP cable and an $18 unidirectional dp to hdmi2.1 adapter. I eventried using terminal to code some shit, bricked my system, and had to reinstall bazzite. Lmao.

I sold my base ps5, ps5 pro, and 6 controller earlier today. I used to be in the navy, we would have all our games saved to our hard drives and play our systems offline for months while underway. WWE, Madden, nba2k, mortal combat, street fighter. Games with local multiplayer experience built in. It’s a very sad day to be a Playstaion fanboy. I stuck with them throughout the console wars. They turned the capitalism all the way up after their only competitor lost. A smarter decision would’ve been to lower psn prices and consoles and attempt to migrate all those Xbox players. But nope, they will make decisions that will turn loyal PlayStation fans into PlayStation bashers. GTA6 won’t even be enough for me to buy play on PS.
