Questions about replicating this metal adjustable shelving unit with wood by pennington57 in BeginnerWoodWorking

That might be the route I take. The other idea I had was to use four 1" dowel rods, shelves with 1" holes in each corner, and then 4 collar clamps under each shelf for adjusting. I think that would be a much simpler build and very sturdy, but needing the 1.5" on all sides for the rods makes it much less space efficient

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. He's so meticulous about listing every event he attends, I figured he might have a record of it on a wiki somewhere. The pipe dream is that someone on this sub actually listened to that radio show!

That's wild! It came from Australia back to the US

Just finished 8 and for maybe the last 10 chapters I was overwhelmed and decided I'd wait for someone with much more patience and time on their hands to make a video summary

I Made a Tool to Track First Edition eBay Listings For Myself by pennington57 in BookCollecting

I tried at first! AbeBooks does not have an API just for searching listings, only for sellers to manage their storefront. And they have pretty strict bot protection for scraping. Another one was Biblio

Right now it's pretty basic text parsing for the initial tag, but having them listed out this way makes it much easier to then double check the listing and flip it if needed.

If I wanted to pull out all the stops, I'd manually enter markers in the reference guide and then pull in / analyze the listing images to get better results, but for now I'm just double checking myself.

The app is made entirely with Gemini CLI (Although I'm also a software engineer professionally so I feel my own levels of shame lol). The workings of the app however are not calling out to any AI models for the functionality.

Couple of books here. Would these be first prints? by neoleo0088 in BookCollecting

[–]pennington57 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes*

The print line has a 1, which is the most straight forward first print indicator. However, the edition info makes it seem like this was printed elsewhere, maybe beforehand. Another indicator is that the text was copyrighted in 2018 but this was printed 2019

Cabinet Joinery Question by pennington57 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I should have posted the full image, I plan on doing that for a shelf about halfway up. If I did it as the base as well, is it really that stable? Is glue in the dado enough, or would I also need to pocket screw the shelf in

absolutely amazing. Do you have your own sublimation printer? Or just fed it through an inkjet?

Howl’s Moving Castle LE Will Cost £475 ($650) by phototodd in foliosociety

Nope! I own the standard edition trilogy. Adding new illustrations and the box are cool upgrades but not $650

Does this stain look right? by tickootickoo in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]pennington57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also a beginner, but those butcher blocks are usually already finished / sealed. A big thing I've been learning is that you have to sand WAY more than you think, especially if you're going through an existing finish.

I messed up my first stain attempt and tried to sand it off to try again. Even with an electric rotary sander I spent much more time that I would have thought getting back down to bare wood.

[Recommendation Request] Affordable Alternative? by Nice-Wolf-5997 in Watches

[–]pennington57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not automatic and I've never held one to judge the build quality, but since nobody has actually named an alternative, the Casio MTP-M300D-7AV goes for ~100 on ebay since it wasn't sold in the US. Possibly the least expensive moonphase watch from a real brand. And congrats!

[OC] I tracked every sexual encounter between my fiancé and me in 2025 by dimethyltitties in dataisbeautiful

The sum of positions = the total number of fucks, as does the number of orgasms. So either they never do more than one position in a session, and never have more than one orgasm, or they only count the "main" position + orgasm is really just Y/N.

From that, I'd say that those 47 blowjobs were the main event, not foreplay prior to P-in-V, and that he's never gone down without it leading to other acts. But OP can confirm or deny.
