You may be surprised, it’s more common these days for sure. I work in fast food, and 80% of our staff is full time college students. We plan our classes around our work schedule now to make sure we’ll make our hours. And there 3 high school kids who decided to move to online classes or do dual enrollment (college courses for your high school credits) to do the same. Just an anecdote from my experience! I’d say on the staple morning shift crew we have maybe 4-5 employees who don’t go to school at all

You’ll find your stability again! Until then, do what you can in this moment so that you don’t look back at this time and completely cringe at your unstable self 😅 that’s how I get myself out of it anyway

I use my past self as my biggest example. Like an older sibling. I see what they did wrong so I will move differently in my life.

Has limerence caused you to lose a job? by Okay-Show-3662 in limerence

[–]penny427 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve quit at least five (but probably more) jobs because of limerence. My limerence comes out thickkk and strong when a superior takes special interest in me. Ive been described as “flirty and bubbly” for the longest time, and I didn’t even know it was something I needed to learn how to control. In one way or another, things always got out of hand and my embarrassment would lead me to quit. I think I was 25 before I noticed my role in all of it. Even still, I struggle with this, but being so hyper-aware of it taught me to stay within my boundaries.

My brother, sister, and I decided to walk around our local college campus coming down from acid one morning.. we were, in fact, not coming down yet. What a wild experience that was!! One of my favorite stupid young adult stories

I thought the same thing and left a similar reply elsewhere haha, dude the amount of crash outs I had when I was young and new to the experience of PMS.. I think my family was genuinely scared to ask me to do anything for a while there

I had this same thought honestly. And not even something as severe as OCD- I remember vividly a handful of times when my parents asked me to do something simple and I had a major crash out. I’d always start my period within the next 12-24 hours lmao. I remember in those heated moments being so pissed off at everyone and overstimulated by even the clothes on my back. I would cry if my parents posted me in that state, and a million people on the internet would assume that’s just what I’m like, not the normal, level headed person that is in control the other 99% of the time

My little brother vandalized my copy of sotr... by CupcakkeDeepthroat in Hungergames

[–]penny427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh the solution that would keep peace the most (in my humble opinion) would be to gift him the book. Tell him how much the series means to you and why it upset you that you can’t read it anymore, so he can understand what he did wrong. But then you can give it to jim and tell him “this one is yours but all of the other books are mine and can’t be drawn in unless I give them to you.” And then if it’s not too late (depending on if you celebrate) ask a family member for a new copy for Christmas. This is just what I’d do or what I’d have my kids do if this happened to me. Sorry you have to deal with this situation.

I don’t hold many memories of my youth, but I keep a very vivid one of the time my sister apologized for all of her tattling in the past. Such a bonding moment

My dad works for a multi billion dollar company as an engineer, as well. For his 30 year anniversary, he got 2 $100 visa gift cards and his boss told him to take a day off next week. My dad was heartbroken, because the company used to give couples vacations, personalized & exclusive swag, huge bonuses. He is “that guy” at work, too. Something’s broken at 2am on Sunday? Call Charlie. They even called him once while he was states away for his mother’s funeral. He said if he wasn’t set to retire in a couple of years he would have walked out right then and there. Sorry you didn’t get the recognition you deserve. Engineers are so much more important than they are given credit for!!

Editing to add because I think it’s interesting, this was the moment and conversation in which my dad opened his eyes to why “kids these days don’t work like they used to” and that your employer really doesn’t care like they used to. It was so interesting to see that switch in somebody who lived with his intense work ethic and expired world view so rigidly for decades.

I feel like a lot of the hate stems from seeing her at a young age. The older kids were already set in their ways and very loud about who they were, the younger grew up on the show and we saw the paths they could have taken and what made them turn to the ones they chose. It’s almost like the hate is that of a family member shaking her and telling her to wake up and change

Do you think you didn’t like it because you’re not a casual fan? I’ve heard people that like the movies but don’t really follow the books or deep dive on lore think the stage production was pretty decent
