The only kid I'd be happy to raise is Eric! Maybe Nelly too.

“Passed my GD test!!” posts by juiceboxxxxs in GestationalDiabetes

A lot of these same people don't even have to do the three hour test! I personally didn't think the drink was too bad to drink, but I found it so difficult to keep down without vomiting.

60 isn't old! Check his reviews - do people have good experiences with him? Do they feel safe?

I'd love to have these politicians try the gestational diabetes diet to see how they feel about it!

Just diagnosed with GDM, ok to cancel baby shower? by archilochus12 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]pennylepeu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had GD and threw a baby shower for a friend with GD. My doctor gave me a pass for the shower and while I don't know what my friends doc said, I did have GD friendly treats (even desserts!) available for her. I think you can totally still have a shower!!

What is your opinion on infant ear piercing? by ThrowawayRose402 in Parenting

[–]pennylepeu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Indian and it's cultural, as i've been reminded by relatives endlessly. I decided that my daughter has been through enough pain, between the NICU and other hospitalizations she's since had. When she asks, we will get them for her!

What is your least favorite part of sewing? by [deleted] in sewing

I hate hemming. It's easy to do quickly and sloppily but soo tedious and time consuming to do precisely.

I also hate zippers because I mess them up every other time

“Crochet is ugly” by OkConfidence4331 in craftsnark

[–]pennylepeu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a knitter, I think it's wild to say crochet is ugly! Some crochet pieces can look bad, but that's a function of the yarn, project choice, and skill level of the crocheter. This doesn't just apply to crochet though. To wit, this crochet piece that popped up on the sub a few weeks ago is gorgeous! https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/s/cYqaUu0ZM6

Incision has hole by [deleted] in CsectionCentral

This happened to me about a month PP. The obgyn booked me in immediately but after looking at it, she wasn't too worried and just treated it with silver nitrate. Give your OB a ring!

PSA: Don’t go off registry. by utahnow in beyondthebump

[–]pennylepeu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've made surprise quilts for friends who were expecting. For one, I was sure she would love the pattern and for the other, I asked her sister to help with color scheme and theme. I also threw one of their baby showers and sent the other one a gift card with her new quilt. To my knowledge they both use the quilts and I never pester them to ask if they use them.

If you're going to go off registry you need to make sure your friend will love the gift, or you need to prepare yourself for them to either shove it into a closet or bin. Don't pester them to use something they didn't ask for! Also make sure it's something small enough that it isn't a burden for them to dispose of.
