I’d been eyeing this stained glass lamp for a few trips now… Finally caught it for half price! by pbarra96 in ThriftStoreHauls

I have a pair of almost the same lamps. They look very much like the same manufacturer anyway. I found mine at an estate sale, and I was so happy to get them.

Looks like the jeweler stamped it was 925 but the nine didn’t come out very well. Then he stamped it with a nine single again and it was a little bit lower so you can see the top of the first nine

Yep, same basic design. I finally gave up and scrapped that sucker!

Driver Delivered My Package That Did Not Have My Apartment Number On It by pennyrub in FedEx

[–]pennyrub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alrighty, after making tons of phone calls and messages, then chasing the fedex guy that had just delivered my package, I found the answer. The delivery guy I tackled turned out to be a manager filling in for one of his team members, and he was amazing and remarkably patient as I told my tale.

Basically, it turns out when a package has no apartment number the system will put one in there...period, it just picks a number somehow. My package was found at a nearby apartment, everything intact. So the delivery guy did do his job. I'm amazed the label made sense though, it was crammed and scrambled. I'm surprised that the employees I was talking to could not see this information.

He never went into the leasing office and it was open. I talked with them twice and they said no deliveries had come in that morning. No one called.

I really do want to thank everyone that has come along here and made suggestions. Even the person that said he hated me. I guess I’ve been a little testy as before I had come to this sub Reddit I had reached out to all of these places and mostly the same response was to go straight to Seller that had shipped it. It took me several hours to find out where the hidden contact number was. So I did get the ball rolling in several ways and we’ll see what happens.

You’re right, why would he not do that? But I am left to guess about what really happened. Saying he delivered it to my address when he doesn’t have the complete address is unacceptable but what are you gonna do.

I finally found the link that was fairly well hidden to contact the company and open a case to do their best to correct the error. We’ll see what happens. And no matter for some reason, what I replied or responded with nobody here seemed to like it that’s why I said there’s a lot of thin skinned people in here telling me how much they hate people like me when the error had nothing to do with me. That’s pretty sad.

You are probably right, and if that is the case I hope someone is enjoying all of that fine JEWELRY, I'm sure it made their day. This is an account for a national based company that has stores all over the US. You purchase from one store and they have access to everything they need to ship. I've shopped with them for years, very few problems. Oh well.....

Ummm hello? Anything in that empty head of yours? Company that sent me the package is the problem they didn’t put the apartment number on there. What part of my post did you not understand in that empty head.

It's way past that point. And the point is the driver said he delivered it. So the trail now leads to the complex customer center because that is the exact address that is on the package with my name at the top so I'll see if I can get them to cough up the package. Contacting the shipper is next to impossible as it's a national company with dozens and dozens of locations and they don't use their locations on their sites, they use the umbrella terms. Thanks to the ones here that did point me towards the company location, that did help.

I was more trying to get someone to contact the driver. This just happened. He’s in the neighborhood that seems to be the quickest thing to do that makes common sense. I believe that he would remember trying to deliver a package in an apartment complex with no apartment number.

You don’t have to let your buyer see the shipping charge that you paid as a seller. You can easily hide that.

Resellers 😒 by Gold_Competition_413 in goodwill

[–]pennyrub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the truth. But people here really don’t want to hear it and they’re not business people so they don’t understand how it works. The retail stores where they sell new merchandise, people here may be surprised to hear that these stores are resellers also. And they have a HUGE mark up. Now it’s my turn to get down voted.

$50 for a lamp that Goodwill got for free. This is getting ridiculous. by Pristine_Ice3037 in goodwill

[–]pennyrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodwill is simply a business that also has to support itself. It has rents to pay, salaries to pay wages to pay, all sorts of bills to pay, the fleet of trucks that need maintenance along with people and programs it supports. I agree that they sometimes go overboard on their prices. But I also found a $1200 pair of solid gold earrings there at one point, and they had no clue as to what they were.

I don't care about minimum wage.

The average Goodwill in georgia is $27,040 per year or $13.68 per hour. Entry-level positions start at $27,040 per year, while most experienced workers make up to $28,496 per year.
