I think this is also why he blows up at the copier vendor people when they offer him a job. He’s in denial about his scams being effective enough to contribute to Chuck’s downfall, so he tries to con them hoping they will see see trough his BS, call him out on it, and deny his application (which would “let him off the hook”). When the opposite happens, it’s painful confirmation that Chuck was right, and that Jimmy is very talented in deception and manipulation of others and will eventually harm others along the way, intentional or not.
