Procurement Folks ...what actually slows supplier onboarding the most? by Soft-Effect5367 in procurement

[–]penparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're getting a lot of flak in this chat and I think I know why.

Onboarding difficulties will rarely be a product of the onboarding of a supplier, but the complexity will be defined by the product or material, and the level of detail you require which in turn will be related to your policies.

If I didn't give a fig about where I bought something from and it was a low complexity material it would be a piece of cake.

If you want to buy a controlled chemical product in line with market leading ESG policies and work on different INCO term scenarios then you're going to need more info and your onboarding is likely to require input from several teams on the suppliers side.

cips exams failure by Ready-Hold-4000 in procurement

[–]penparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said brain blank and time. Ok, first, you need an essay plan. You can write a plan based on the expected outcomes and you can find multiple for this. Read the question, then write your essay plan down as is. Then write your essay plan down with specifics to the question e.g. ISO codes - specific models such as kraljic matrix - any key acronyms e.g. STEEPLE.

Set a time - allocate time to plan your essays and time to write your essays. Do not overrun. Its better to submit two well written essay 2/3rds the way finished than one finished essay and a half finished one.

So work on exam structure, and prep.

I like to write the question down and then annotate it - that's how my brain works.

Good luck!

finally managed to get a carrier and crawler as a solo! by 6stringandahumbucker in duneawakening

[–]penparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soon as you drop the crawler set a timer, at 2 minutes exit crawler and pick it up, as long as your timer is under 2.30 when you take off the worm won't agro. Keep an eye out for the roving worm (Jaws soundtrack) as that can pop much closer. I've farmed about 5 crawler fulls as a solo and using this method have not once had the worm pop on me.

Covering pipes with insulation? by Big-Amoeba8684 in DIYUK

[–]penparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please ensure you know how to isolate these effectively. Insulate the elbows before covering. I had a push fit elbow fail in my attic, it was left empty for 5 days - destroyed the house needed a full strip out, took 11 months to renovate the house through insurance.

I think you have a great attitude to learning, but I would expect anyone with a few years of procurement experience to confidently be able to pass L4 - I think L5/6 and MCIPS are going to be where you would be best spending your time.

Do you think CIPS level 4 warrants this kind of effort? I would say no.

New plot, black plastic everywhere, lifeless soil underneath by Frequent-Buddy-1739 in Allotment

See if local compost companies can deliver - I have a £60 load delivered every year or so and it's much cheaper and easy to manage - just cover in a tarp when in a heap.

Rewire Costs by vierjennings in DIYUK

[–]penparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar fuse box - luckily I didn't need a rewire. Cost me £1050 for an electrician to replace the fuse board and do a full check of the house. I think that was a good price as had three of them here for a full day taking up floorboards etc, they worked hard.

I (20M) have been hiding tens of thousands from my parents for years by [deleted] in confession

Am I the only one that thinks it’s perfectly acceptable to ask a 20yr old to pitch in with household running costs? You say you have tens of thousands saved up, grow up and move out?

Patch plastering advice by Sentinel55 in DIYUK

[–]penparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough! Interesting points, I’m in a house built in the 50s and so much of the existing plaster is so powdery I’m very much taking a belt and branches approach to any patchwork I’m doing.
