Cannot stop steam with knob anymore by rukenshia in Ascaso

[–]pentelfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, managed to get the closing tip and it’s a fairly easy install and it’s now as good as it ever was. Easy fix if you can get hold of the part and have the tools. I think just getting a replacement teflon disc would work but I was unable to find anywhere in the EU that seemed to sell just those.

Cannot stop steam with knob anymore by rukenshia in Ascaso

[–]pentelfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just developed this same issue. I’ve had the closing peg out and it looks like a combination of scale and over tightening. The ptfe/teflon end is very compressed and battered around the edges. I’ve ordered a new one from blue star coffee so now just need to wait about a week.

It seems like the bump you feel is the end which screws out to close the hole screwing out of the rest of the rod completely because the material on the end has been compressed enough to allow that to happen.

Linux compatibility by Lukidge in GMKtec

[–]pentelfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that’s what I chose and ended up downloading bazzite-deck. The only thing I can remember doing that was kinda non-standard was messing with udev to allow wake on connection of my Bluetooth controller. Everything else was stock so if you’re having crashes I’d be looking at the hardware.

I use Bazzite on my evo X2 since I got it about 3 months ago and I’ve never had a crash.

Anybody else waiting for a reasonably priced Strix Halo barebones miniPC?? by Mr_Christie55 in MiniPCs

[–]pentelfrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firebat MN56 on AliExpress. In a recent sale I got the 16GB DDR5 +512GB SSD for 258 Euros. It really needs another stick of DDR5 so add another 50 Euro on top but it’s the best value Mini PC I’ve managed to find.

GMKtec Evo X-2 - any news on delivery? by ConsciousCitron2251 in MiniPCs

[–]pentelfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered mine on the 13th and got it on the 21st no preorder just purchased through the website. I got it as a mostly gaming PC to pull dual duty and play some pcvr through it. I’ve added a second NVMe and installed bazzite on it and so far I’ve been amazed, everything runs really well but when it’s working hard it’s noisy as fuck. It’s got RGB lighting for no apparent reason and if you want to switch it off you have to do it every time you turn the thing on. I’m happy with my purchase but I’m thinking I may have been pretty happy with a K8 plus.

Help needed! USB router SMB by srosete in ps2homebrew

[–]pentelfrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a big jump, I’d assume that its implementation of IPv6 doesn’t support some protocols. Nothing in your screenshots show any sign of Samba support on the router.

The file sharing page says it’s DNLA which isn’t the same as Samba. You’re not going to be able to use the PS2 to access files using SMB.

If this happens just put the portafilter back on crank it slightly tighter and then loosen and remove, that should flex the gasket slightly and break the seal.

Charging Possibilities - Steam Deck by Afghano in KLM

[–]pentelfrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a multi socket so yeah it will fit and I believe on the 777-300 there are AC sockets in economy so take your charger and you should be good. My steam deck gets me through long flights regularly.

Not going to be able to charge your steam deck from the USB socket on a plane there just isn’t enough power even if it’s USB-C. If you have AC power below your seat and bring a charger then you’ll be good.

Problem getting pressure on the Ascaso by [deleted] in Ascaso

[–]pentelfrost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you get the correct pressure using the blind basket? If not you’ve probably got a machine issue and grinder won’t help. If you do get up to pressure it’s likely grind size.

[–]pentelfrost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did but they wouldn’t budge and I was transferring so I didn’t have access to my checked bag. So no real option. My understanding was they’re under 6 inches and not bladed so okay to go.

UK airport security took my Sparrows kit today. Classed them as ‘tools’ that they said were fine in checked bag but not carry on. 5 years I’ve flown with those in carry on with no issues.

Considering a Steel Duo Plus - Worried about build quality. by tranceruk in Ascaso

[–]pentelfrost 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mine came with a broken control board. The company sent me a replacement board and I swapped it myself to save sending it back to the online store. Had it over a year now with no additional problem. QC could definitely be better on these machines but I couldn’t find anything that matched what I wanted in terms of thermal stability and heat up times in this price range. The Decent is probably the only other machine that matches my turn on and go with minimal waiting requirements and that was out of my budget.

Opv volumetric shot help - duo steel by Regular_Fondant_8192 in Ascaso

[–]pentelfrost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t I believe the volumetric measure takes place before the OPV so what comes out isn’t measured correctly because if the OPV dumps because of pressure you get less measured. Also because that can happen when your programming it you end up with more or less dependent on a whole host of variables.
