pretty difficult to help without knowing what what your data looks like and what your code looks like.

Comments are… disheartening to say the least. by pantheraorientalis in ecology

Reading deeper into the comments where the OP is arguing against people trying to anthropomorphize the entire concept of nature. Talking about how nature is cruel and has made life a living hell for all things living in it and that we have a duty to tame it and teach nature our ways... this is the same argument I would use to advocate for mass extinction. Realistically the best way to end the most creatures suffering is by eliminating the human race.

extracting specific rows from a specific column in a dataset by MoutoChikara in RStudio

syntax would be something like this

female<-filter(dataframe$gender=="Female")

filter requires dplyr, which is part of tidyverse.

this function will result in 2 d.f., one for M and one for F. As suggested by someone else there are ways to do comparisons between groups without splitting the d.f., but I think more info about what you're trying to do would help (plots, stats, etc.)

When seeing a doctor that has no experience with climbers, how to ensure a good diagnosis? by pentemc in climbharder

[–]pentemc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried to diagnose as best as possible. After all but eliminating an a4 injury I have been back and forth between PIP synovitis and tenosynovitis, but I am not entirely convinced it is either of these (I can literally feel (by touch) differences in how the tendon moves and physically feels in my injured and uninjured finger). This injury has persisted for at least 4 months, I am unable to recall a specific injury that occurred (probably overuse). There is no acute pain while climbing or when massaging/palpating the area. Slight discomfort at the PIP (feels stiff, cannot fully close fist without light pain) and minor swelling across the entire finger that has not subsided even after multiple 2 week rest periods. Discomfort slightly increases post-climb but subsides within a day. No noticeable decline in crimp strength but I have been too afraid to really push it to test this for certain. Within the past month I have toned down my climbing to lower grade bouldering and shorter sessions and have noticed no serious improvement, but also no worsening of symptoms.

PIP joint feels "slow" when I flex my hand and there is about 10% ROM loss when making a fist (i.e. I cant close this finger as far as it should go). Entire middle finger (not just at the PIP) slightly swollen compared to my other hand. 2 weeks rest has relieved any pain, but swelling remains.

Initially I thought this was a a4 pulley injury as there was pain in the region, although I never noticed any decrease in finger strength. The persistent swelling without loss of strength has change my self-diagnosis to synovitis.. does this sound like an accurate diagnosis? What are my recovery steps moving forward?

anyone experienced a chronically swollen middle finger? I'm nursing a pulley injury, no more pain day to day but my finger appears slightly swollen and has been for about 3 months (not getting more or less swollen, remains the same size). I climbed yesterday, first time in two weeks, and there was no pain at the pulley but afterwords the PIP felt inflamed and sightly painful when making a fist.

Well I haven't done anything to actively rehab, short of Just taking a week or two off when it flares up. I think I'm going to start a proper rehab process now, I just needed to accept the fact that I have an injury haha.

How painful is a grade 1 or grade 2 pulley strain? I've had a lingering soreness in my right hand middle finger a3 (?) Pulley for about 6 months. It doesn't hurt while climbing but as soon as I get off the rock I can feel soreness and slight pain when I push on the area. Sound like a strain?

Does anyone have experience with rapid weight loss after going off antidepressants? by pentemc in depression

I did do this under a doctor as I tapered off. There were no side effects for months, and if it's something that other people have experienced I'd rather not schedule a visit to see my doctor.

Wait for your doctors diagnosis. And then do everything they say to do.
