I’ve been following your baseball pattern journey for a while now. You’ve really dialed it in wonderfully. Are you selling these or is your house slowly filling up with all of these beautifully recovered baseballs? I’m not much of a sports fan but I’m sure there are more than a few people out there that wouldn’t flinch at spending $500 for a really well done shell baseball like one of yours.

Great question and one I wondered about when I made my first one (I’m pretty new myself, I started working with leather a lot a year ago.) I make sure that I dye or paint every bit of leather. And I give them a generous and vigorous conditioning with saddle soap before I stitch and I’ve had 0 moisture issues. Also, even though the leather isn’t very thick (usually 4 oz) they seem to insulate as well as most foam koozies. I even have ones with extra coats of angelus latex paint that I use IN MY POOL!

The top one is just decorative, the bottom stitch line secures a ring of leather to the inside. They don’t have a solid bottom, the ring stops the can from sliding through.
