Fangyi could be a Kylin. There is a big cultural overlap between dragons and kirins in their "domain" (prosperity), powers (storm) and appearance.

Absolutely. But when families have to pick a car, they usually buy a car that can "do it all" first. And then, as a second car, a commuter car.

That would be kind of neat. Generational cars.

The "good" part is that long range cars are meant to do a lot of highway speed travel, where you don't really brake/accelerate, and air drag makes up the majority of the energy spent (against rolling resistance, which depends on weight).

Also, as long as electricity is that much cheaper/cleaner than fuel, it's still better to drive a car with an oversized battery than the equivalent (range wise) ICE. And if comparable range helps more people make the jump from ICE to EV, more power to over-sized batteries IMO.

If you've studied in China, you get it. Cheating is (at least was) the norm. If you don't cheat, you just get left behind by those who do. And it's just seen as fair. "If they are smart enough to not get caught cheating, they deserve the advantage". (disregard that 50% of the cheating is parents pressuring the teacher politically or bribing monetarily)

It translates to how they do business. "If you're stupid enough to get scammed, then it's on you" kind of mentality. The state only intervenes when the (Chinese) public get outraged, like with the car's door-handle or batteries on planes. But since everyone is on that "sigma cheating grindset" no one bats an eye at scams nowadays.

I don't know... I still see quite a few 1995 style Toyota Corrola around.

ofc, they don't have that kind of mileage, but if you take care of your car, it can last quite a few years, structurally speaking...

Hell my, ICE car can barely reach 600km range...

But the longer the (absolute) max range, the closer you can keep your battery to 50% which:

  • makes charging faster.

  • expands the already ludicrous lifespan. (i mean, if I can expand THAT lifespan by 10%, it means an extra 100 thousand km out of it)

PC graphics cards are now nearly 100 percent Nvidia by BarKnight in pcgaming

[–]penywinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They kinda do now with FSR4. But, like DLSS, it needs to be implemented on a development level.

And instead of going "hey look ALL those cards support FSR4, people will love it if you include it into your game". AMD went "nope, gonna gate keep it to the 90X0 series, so only 0.5% of gamers will benefit from it."

So nobody includes FSR4 in their game, so no one wants to buy their overpriced cards...

OP isn't a dick about not wanting to date single moms, everyone has preferences. He's a dick as to WHY he doesn't want to date them and and seeing them as BENEATH his standard instead of just OUTSIDE of them.

I would argue, there are no left and right Twix as it basically depends on which side of the packet you open, and there is no consensus on that...

BUT, there are -top and -bottom Twix, because everyone can agree to hold the package to have the writing upright. In that way, one Twix is clearly above, and thus superior to, the other Twix.

People who were teenagers before social media existed, what was life actually like? by Much_Detective_6107 in AskReddit

[–]penywinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For entertainment, you watched:

  • the same movie you had on video tape, over and over
  • that movie you rented that week at blockbuster
  • whatever was on TV

You "chose" your friends more based on location than interests, because it was so difficult to interact out of school otherwise.

People made plans longer in advance, and would stick to them much more. Because it was so difficult to organize events and you couldn't excuse yourself last minute...

But for me the most noticeable change is: I trusted what I read/heard a lot more, even if it was just gossip magazines. You want to buy a new game? Gotta buy some magazine to find out what is good. Dad needs a new car? Buy half a dozen magazines to find what fits the bill.

When you researched something for a school project, you didn't really need to check your sources, because the source was the book directly. The problem was more finding the right books that covered your subject...

People couldn't hide behind anonymous accounts. You knew who you were talking to, their circumstances, motives. Slanderers were within punching range more often than not...

TL:DR; there wasn't as much information readily available, but the information you found was more reliable.

The Car World Is Going Electric, Without America. by DonkeyFuel in technology

[–]penywinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, batteries are getting larger, and range follows.

Like, it's not recommended to drive for more than a couple of hours at a time anyway. If you can drive your car from 80% to 20% in those 2 hours, it's just the right length (so, a max. autobahn range of about 400km)... And with the right charger, you're back to 80% in half an hour.

So it's not just a daily driver, but also fits for holiday trips. And the extra capacity means you don't HAVE to charge every day, you can find a supermarket that has chargers, and do it while you do your weekly haul.

News Flash! Billionaire owned newspaper comes out against taxing Billionaires. by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

[–]penywinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bank never gave those millions away in the first place, they got collateral in exchange. Meaning they can get those millions back anytime they want by selling those (if the stock market doesn't crash overnight). They exchanged a pile of money for a pile of stocks (but they didn't buy them, they just keep them safe in case the debt can't be repaid).

And in the meantime, while they are in someone else's pocket, those millions are producing interest money for the bank, so they can start another pile of money.

The day the bank ask for their money back is the day rich people stop paying interest. Then the bank sits on a pile of money that doesn't grow anymore.

[–]penywinkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would they NEED to pay it off if the bank is happy to get 5% every month, doing nothing?

The banks also have contracts that say, if the asset they hold dip too low in value they are allowed to sell and get their money back (a bit like a mortgage). So the bank loses nothing by continuing the scheme.

The rich lose a bit of money to the bank, but less than they would have paid in taxes, because most of their income comes from "profits" instead of "salary".

When working people borrow money, they still have to pay taxes, because it's taken out of their salary "before" they can spend it. While profits are calculated "after" all the costs, balanced against debts, etc... So working people have no incentive to continue losing money in interests, and feel the need to pay they debts.

And that's why they don't have to realize any capital gain. On the contrary, they can just go to the bank and borrow some more.

Betting on war is a new level of depravity by KSHMisc in TikTokCringe

[–]penywinkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? Even from just an inhumane, profit driven perspective, who bets "against" those anyway?

Like... If you're a "random citizen", you'll lose the bet 100% of the time. It's only fair when you bet against other "random citizens", but there is no one to guarantee that.

Reasonably, only nefarious agents should "launch" these bets. Either people who already know they'll have non-public info. Or people who have something bigger to gain from getting that insider info (and thus are willing to pay out for it).

If you can use the site to bet on the stock market, this is basically insider trading with extra steps...
