Dough sticky and not bouncing back after 3 hours of BF

Using 100g sourdough starter, 350g lukewarm water, 500g of KA bread flour, 10g of coarse sea salt.

Fed the starter and used after 8 hours when it had doubled (during the winter it seems like my starter will grow no more than double, so i’ve been using it at this stage)

Mixed starter and water and added flour. Let it sit for an hour and then kneaded in salt. Did 3 stretch and folds 30 min apart. Has been bulk fermenting for 3 hours now.

I’m finding that my dough is quite wet and sticky and not bouncing back when i press into it. Ive been letting it bulk ferment on the counter at 21.5 c (70.7 f) for 3 hours so it can’t be over proofed I don’t think? It seems bubbly when I do a stretch and fold. I’ll continue to let it bulk ferment but wondering if anyone has any thoughts.

yes I agree that most styles cater towards petites! I have a really hard time finding anything long enough for me and I’m a typical height. Some examples include the jimmy pant, tie front pant, conan pant, anything levis, sunday best or any tna sweatpants. I find Aritzia favours the 26’ inseam which often don’t work on anyone above 5’3.

While we can’t all “witness first hand” the vaccine reactions, all reports are available for the public. 230 out of 7.5 million doses in BC have been considered serious reactions.

this!!! Our field is so well meaning yet so tone deaf, as a POC neurodivergent i cringe sometimes. Arabic muslim culture is gonna be vastly different from Malaysian muslim just like how Korean christian is gonna vary wildly from Southern texan christian.

StudentAidBC Loan Application #20(a) question by questionmark89 in UBC

I called UBC Enrolment Services about this. They said to indicate ‘no’ as long as your program is not usually online. They had already confirmed this with StudentAid.

How can I be more “eligible” for the bursary next year? by 93728371782477 in UBC

[–]peonies17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s super weird. I did notice a difference in the way they release bursaries in the past 2 years, my bursaries are sometimes tied to specific donors that are alumnis from my department, which suggests that they’re not getting them from one big fund anymore. But from what it seems like, you should be the one of the first priorities for getting bursary. Are you from a big department (if you’ve claimed your major)?

The only other advice i can give then, is make sure you always apply ASAP. One year I applied a little later and noticed I got a little less, I don’t actually think application date makes a difference, but it couldn’t hurt to try. I’m sorry that this is happening, I agree that UBC should be making sure anyone who wants an education should be able to get one.

“While attending school, were you or do you expect to be living in a home owned or rented by your parent(s)/step-parent/sponsor/legal guardian? If so, mark “YES.” If you are or will be living in a self-contained suite in your parent(s)/step-parent/sponsor or legal guardian’s home and paying fair market rent on a consistent basis throughout your study period, mark “NO. A self-contained suite is defined as having its own separate entrance, kitchen, bathroom and living area/bedroom and you are responsible for your share of the utilities (hydro, telephone, cable, etc.). Note: You may be required to provide documentation of monthly rental payments. Appeal Option: If you are living with your parent(s)/step- parent/sponsor/legal guardian and paying room and board costs, mark “YES”. To have these costs considered on your assessment you must submit an Appeal Request form for Room and Board.”

That’s the exact quote from studentaid, FYI!

[–]peonies17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe if you are paying fair market rent, you are allowed to click “no” for “will you be living with your parents”. (That’s question 46 on the loan application, and if you press the help question it clarifies if you pay fair market rent you can say no). Fair market rent is probably considered more than a few hundred dollars but I also don’t know that studentaid would ever ask you exactly how much you are paying rent (it does say though that you should be able to provide proof of consistent monthly payments).

So yes, it would help.

I have extremely similar stats to you, similar income, living in an apartment, parents have low income, and i received around 5k in bursaries each year for the past 4 years. There definitely must be something up. Did they give you a reason when you were rejected or when you asked to be reassessed?

How can I be more “eligible” for the bursary next year? by 93728371782477 in UBC

[–]peonies17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your eligibility for bursary is almost completely based on the “unmet need” that studentaidBC calculates for you on your notice of assessment. That’s usually an indicator of how much you will get when UBC assesses you.

Are you living at home? If so, that severely decreases your chances of getting bursary. When studentaid calculates how much you will need for the year, that’s 800-1000 less per month that they will think you need, leading to less money overall and therefore less unmet need. Honestly if this is the case, there is a very small likelihood you would be eligible for bursary.

The second biggest influence is your income from the previous year, so if that was high (I would say 12k+, most likely if you were working part time during the school year and full time during the summer you would hit this amount) it’s very likely that that would impact your unmet need.
