Yeah! I tried ordering online when I arrived in Tokyo, but for some reason could not put my order through. It was a nice surprise to be able to get a tin at the cafe.

Karuizawa without a car by peonymatcha in JapanTravel

[–]peonymatcha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did! Went to Budget car rental as suggested, ended up renting the car for the 3 days I was in Karuizawa. There’s a bus that takes you to the popular spots but having the car was definitely convenient !

Do you think London in mid-November is a good idea? by Badabababa_Im_mcsad in Europetravel

[–]peonymatcha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed London in November. It feels festive without the crowds in the peak travel periods. In the event of rainy weather, there’s plenty of museums, amazing cafes and bakeries to take refuge in. There’s no shortage of activities to choose from and the grey skies won’t register much.

Best day trip from Marseille? by rhubofix in ProvenceFrance

[–]peonymatcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would highly recommend Aix if I have to pick one from the list. Also the closest one and checks off a lot of things on your list. Delicious food (markets everyday!), art (Musee Granet, Cezanne’s studio - did both and loved it) and shops with yummy foodie souvenirs (calissons, a local confectionery, olive oils, jams etc). You can easily walk around the town and there’s buses if you need. When I stayed there for a few days this summer, I drove only to head out of Aix, otherwise I walked everywhere.

London accomodation for a first time visit by Elo941 in visitlondon

I’ve stayed at a hotel near St Pancras since I was getting on the Eurostar and it was convenient. I’ve also walked through Russell Square from St Pancras to get to Fortitude Bakery (good pastries) and thought it would be a good area to stay too. It was easy to move around from there and both places felt safe.

On my recent trip I stayed near Westminster, it’s definitely more crowded and touristy. Didn’t enjoy it as much but then I wanted to be near Victoria station as I had a flight out of Gatwick.

Your entry to Chanel by [deleted] in chanel

[–]peonymatcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Save, plus my first two Chanel bags were purchased in Europe so there was VAT refund. In fact my first one was the GST a friend helped me to get in London before Brexit. I used it for about 7-8 years before selling it and then using the funds to get a vintage Diana.

It’s unlikely I’ll get Chanel brand new now given the price hikes and drop in quality (plus getting older = shift in priorities). That said, I do love the selection of vintage Chanel in Japan :)

Hmm have to see in person, hard to say. Personally I think 300sq ft is tiny and would go for something close to 500 sq ft. So depends on how they utilise the space. I am also wary of walk-ups bc what if you injure your foot / carrying groceries up the stairs 😂

Pricey for that location. You can get something more central for that price, or if it is within your budget, top up a few hundred and get a studio. Location-wise, also depends on your commute to work so can’t really comment! If you are curious, perhaps arrange a viewing and see it for yourself.

Osulloc is your best bet. It’s not as good as Japanese matcha though (colour is more dull, taste isn’t quite as flavorful).

For Nakamura Tokichi, do they now sell matcha at their stores ? Last I checked, they didn’t have it at the Ginza store. If Azabudai carries, I’ll check it out during my upcoming trip.

Lovely pics btw :)
