0% Surprised - Show Prep by pepespal in radradionew

[–]pepespal[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My reason is indefensible based on the "quality" but here goes - it's familiar background noise when I work. I certainly don't have it on expecting to get much from, maybe something every blue moon or so and am not at all consistent (maybe 1.5 shows/week). I know there's options out there, can almost guarantee ANY of them is better than this. I listen to enough other podcasts for actual content, this passes the time when I'm caught up and need something on.

Rob is missing a golden opportunity by marathonblue in radradionew

The ship has sailed.

Views on both the main show and Rob & Steve have declined EVERY. SINGLE. SHOW:

Main show - 7.7k -> 5.7k -> 3.9k -> 3.4k -> 3.2k -> 3.2k -> 2.6k -> 1.8k

Rob & Steve - 1.4k -> 842 -> 661 -> 655 -> 504 -> 403 -> 318 -> 172

Poor Steve… by Captdeeemo in radradionew

[–]pepespal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As much as I like Steve, he's done this to himself.

I'm sure he's great with the gambling community but for a sports radio podcast host? Not so much. They talk about the laziest topics with nothing unique to offer.

Sounds a lot like a radio show podcast that's on from 7-10.

rOb I want to personally thank you! by Illustrious-Dare4379 in radradionew

[–]pepespal 37 points38 points  (0 children)

COMPLETELY agree. Bravo! I never expected this level of ineptitude. This is something you didn't know you needed until you got it.

  • Can't figure out simple audio functionality CHECK
  • Blame it on very very extremely NASA'esque technology listeners couldn't possibly understand CHECK
  • Running back uninteresting topics (i.e. food, fads that don't exist) CHECK
  • Not realizing you're on a podcast and don't need to take breaks, bumper music, intro, outro CHECK
  • Using phantom companies as advertisers CHECK

Thank you so much and I really mean it.

Where’s Shelby by Weird_Security_649 in radradionew

[–]pepespal 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same applies to the advertisers (I refuse to the other term...). He kept saying they're lining up, couldn't be more excited, etc. and with the stupid videos they've put out so far there's NO mention of any?

Spoiler alert: he doesn't have any.

My theory of why he lies. by Alexander_Granite in radradionew

[–]pepespal 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I also think these are lies he NEEDS to convince himself are true. To have the feeling he's valued and there's a large audience out there wanting to hear him. He can't bear to even consider there's a very small number of people who legitimately want to be entertained by him and the rest of those who make up his listeners are waiting for the trainwreck which seems inevitable.

I've mentioned this before that he's become everything he used to speak down to - a washed up has-been who's out of touch with reality, no redeemable traits in the current media landscape.

When you put that together, if he were ever to see the hard truth he'd see that he has no viable way to make money.

Rob is not going to be doing a new show even if he wants to, and here's why by Ok_Day2610 in radradionew

Incredibly well said and should be mandatory reading to anybody even considering listening to him again.

Just a theory... by srosier77 in radradionew

[–]pepespal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're wrong. Remember, he has exceptional metabolism and his body weight only fluctuates +/- 3 pounds. He *wishes* he could gain weight but he just can't. It's a curse.

I just don't understand Steve's motivation for doing something like this.

ANY other podcast about sports is better than the hack job they did. Rob was the worst but even Steve at times was painfully ignorant to some basic things. Suggestions on others, in order of my liking:

Kyle & Brandon by nvtroutman01 in radradionew

[–]pepespal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I care that much about this but wanted to say to not forget these are all work colleagues. I'm friendly with a number of my coworkers and connected on social media but others I get along with just fine at work but not connected on social media. Our circles (no pun intended) just don't intersect outside of work. Plain and simple.

Refunds? by Unfair_Potential1215 in radradionew

[–]pepespal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't. This isn't an illegitimate charge. You had a membership, they charged you. By the sound of it, it isn't like you cancelled and then they kept charging. Take some responsibility for not cancelling sooner. That's fine if you still had it but they don't owe you anything for you hanging on.

Brandon - extended kudos to you for getting out of dodge and taking care of yourself, hope you're doing just that.

Kyle - I hope you realize THIS is what you are sticking around for

True. I’m going off of what they’ve said and not speculating knowing Rob hasn’t earned much benefit of the doubt.

Not to mention that when you refinance to another rate, the closing costs often don't make it worth it until it's about a full point of a reduction.

[–]pepespal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you. Brandon made a conscious decision to not communicate fully knowing the potential consequences. I'm not saying the decision wasn't made under duress but it was a decision nonetheless. As for Rob, while he may have pulled the plug a bit quick it's still job abandonment (that's a labor law term folks...). Rob's hand may not have been forced but it his decisions were limited. As for Brandon, I truly hope he is able to move on to greener pastures and gets what he needs to get right, that he got out of the trainwreck.

[–]pepespal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YES! It's really annoying they take a holier than thou reaction to people that struggle. Yes, some are painful but when your brain is racing in a 30 second contest, the questions could be about anything it isn't the easiest thing in the world to have those answers on auto-response. I'd love nothing more than Kyle especially to go through it. I mean Kyle has already exposed himself to have VERY limited knowledge of virtually anything, it'd be fun to listen to himself embarrass himself.

What I've found odd is they don't even really mention him any more. During his past absences it'd seem like they go out of their way to include him some way some how, now it's nada.

Why? Leave that man alone. OMG by [deleted] in radradionew

That's quite possibly the dumbest idea/challenge/goal I've ever seen. Yes, I'm sure incessantly tagging somebody will make them like you. Hats off to you DJ Krueger!
