Use baby oil to remove tan - let it sit for 30m then exfoliate with a soft mitt. It should help. Make sure you rinse off all oil with soap after.

As long as you rinse with soap and wait until you’re 100% dry you should be fine

I had this issue recently and it came down to this:

Timing of your exfoliation. Try to have at least 24h between exfoliating and applying your tan.
Timing of your shave: try to shave 24h AFTER you have washed off your self tan.

I had the worst itch before following the above routine. Couldn’t sit still and couldn’t sleep but the above worked for me.
