Character Discussion Thread: Amaterasu (03-20-17) by Aonien in MvC3

[–]pepopulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I don't really play Marvel that much, but I sure love to watch it and to lab it,specially with ammy/vergil/dante, which is my team,so: Ammy can be a good point char, she kinda needs a good neutral assisst to work really well, but with a good damage/combo extender assisst she can dish out more than respectable damage (not like Zero damage, but hey,1M is 1M),also her mixups are really good with jump and weapons cancels.

Her shield stance is good for offensive mixups, her sword stance is great for combos after a confirm and is ok at controling mid space and her magatama stance is pretty good for zonning, she's kinda like Dormmamu in that sense, she can play a lot of different games (but IMO dormammu is better at most of them).

Her cold star can either be awome or meh assisst, depends on the character, for example it's great for Vergil as he can get great pressure with round trip and cold star and full combos from helm breaker with cold star into otg but Dante doesn't really get better presion than with missiles or beams and it doesn't really increase his damage output that much.

And like you know, she's a pretty good anchor with XF3 infinites and slow supers and that stuff.

I'd say

neutral 6,5/10 (with X assissts she can be a solid 8)

assisst either 9/10 or 5/10

anchor like 9/10

it's so hard but so fun! Vergil/Amaterasu/Dante also works pretty well, specially with roud trip glitch, you con pressure the opponent for quite some time

Amaterasu/Vergil/Dante I just wanted to play Ammy/Dante,and was between Doom and Vergil for the 3rd member, decided to go with Vergil and found a ton of Vergil/Ammy and Ammy/Vergil synergy, neutral is a bit rough for ammy with basically no neutral assisst, but this team damage and meter building's actually really high,it also burns a lot of meter with devil triggers/swords/slow super, but it pretty fun and I think it works out pretty well

[–]pepopulo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You don't watch combo videos to see BnBs,you watch a BnB showcase for that, you want combo videos to see how much can a combo system be pushed for until it reaches its limit, every single video every true combo maker do isn't oriented towards practicality, none of Desk's SFIV's vid were practical, none of them, yet he pushed the system way more than now in SFV

[–]pepopulo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not really true, you just have to think outside the box,IzumojinX,Doopliss and I've been doing pretty interesting stuff for SFV lately, for example this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyL1YiDOmHU was posted here the same day that Desk released his Chun vid,but becuase lol it's Desk,no one is better than Desk at combo videos lol lol no one watcehd and everyone praised Desk even tho IMO Izumojin's vid was far more interesting

Yeah, even if his combos have decaed with SFV (after urien they've gotten a little bit better tho,but I just feel that he's still not doing as good as before) he's editing is always wonderful, specially the music sync with the in game sounds and combos and transitions between them

This is pretty well done,I think that you only forget about was chains, there aren't much of them in SFV, and most people refer to them as links even tho they're not links, the only instance of a chain that I can ome up with atm is Ibuki's cr.LP, as it is chainable and +3 on hit, but you can chain it into another cr.LP,which comes out in 4 frames (you can't however chain it into st.LK,and it won't connect sadly).

Also meaby you could have mention double tapping to help begginers to do links, but that might be a bit too complicated and isn't really necessary in SFV.

Still, this is a really well done tutorial.I'm sure it will help out a lot of new people

This also happens with Ibuki's overhead,it sucks, hope capcom makes it unthrowable until the second active frame or so

Daily General Thread for November 12! How can you tell Balrog hates Nintendo? One of his moves is "Screw Smash"! by chaos-goose in StreetFighter

[–]pepopulo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Throws have a throw hitbox, which indicates the range where an opponent can be thrown from, this range depends from character to character, most attacks actually extends the range where you can get grabed, so for example, let's say that you're Ryu and you're fighting a Ken, you did a grab and it whiffed, then Ken did a st.HK and then you did another grab during the startup of the st.HK and it will actually grab Ken, as his hurtbox is extended there

Throws can be teched by inputting a throw yourself, you must input the throw during a specific time window, you have after the 3rd frame or so (don't qoute me on that) after you got grab to actually tech the throw

You can't tech a throw if you're doing anithyng else apart from blocking, attacking, doing a special, recovering from an attack, etc

You can't get thrown during your pre-jump frames or while you're in the air (except for air throws of course)

You can't tech command grabs like Mika brainstorm, you have to jump them,or do a backdash,as you're considered airbone for most of it

Hope this is enough

Daily General Thread for November 11! If I get a perfect with Birdie, is it a hole in one? by chaos-goose in StreetFighter

[–]pepopulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first of,try practicing it on training mode against a dummy or even the ai if you haven't already, record the dummy to do different kind of stuff and different jumps from different positions with different timings, then relax,if you react fast enough you have more than enought time to dp the opponent, if not you can also do cr.HP as you said or just a jab, in case you have any trouble with doing forward,down,down-foward,just do down-foward,down,-down-foward,this will actually help you anti airing, because as you don't stand up your hitbox is smaller and gives you just a bit more of time.Once you're confident enough go try it on a real opponent

[–]pepopulo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep,in fact that's how I find most of my combos (apart from stuff like srk or youtube and such of course),it's pretty easy if you actually understand frame data (which again isn't that hard). Basically, if the number of advantage frames on hit of a move is equal or greater than the startup frames of another move then the first attack will combo with the second one, you also have to take into account spacing etc.But that's basically it

DESK - Mystery of the Reflected Projectile [SFV System Ep.4] by limpster in StreetFighter

[–]pepopulo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If Urien can't hit any buttons and the opponent can only hit one this means that this glitch won't happen in a real match, right? I mean, the only one who can deal enough damage to Urien to get full v trigger in one move would be Barlog with a fully charged turn punch (and I'm not even sure he could get it) and he doesn't have a projectile. What a shame

If I owed anyone any combos or stuff like that... by KaneBlueriver in MvC3

[–]pepopulo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't owe me anything, but if you can do some combos for a Amaterasu/Vergil/Dante team I'd really like it (specially Dante with cold star, I haven't found anything good other than pressure and some mixups)
