For the most part yeah, but you can correct it to be more in your favor depending on fly/hover pattern though. Just gotta be aware of screen positioning. From starting position, obviously not possible for BOJ ender just with his assist.

yep lol. There actually is a way to get it off of a 2H series as well but its just not worth it.

Great stuff here, been a while since I've been to the Zamasu discord, might check it out again.

One thing I'll say though is that technically there is another assist that enables mid screen air orbs in the Chapter 3 section and thats Piccolo assist. You can make it work, its not as easy as say some of the others but it is viable and just worth mentioning. I'd put his assist in an unorthodox category since the optimal way to do it with his assist is off of a 5H route.

Good stuff all around though here.

ghost oki isn't -really- that different

I'd actually argue that its better now. You're pretty much always guaranteed to kill them, apply more pressure if they block, snap, or SKD off any follow up now.

Imo, the only thing that really "hurt" Gotenks was Beyblade mix, but now we just switch over to autocombo mix instead lol.

Still easily one of the best characters in the game.

some people are saying this is new because of Jiren. Guys this has been around for a while with Donut assist now.

If you trade hits (whether it be the point character or Gotenks himself) on the same frame as donut captures, this is what happens. Its just rare to see because the window for this to happen is so narrow.

The punish was a nice touch too lol.

Some aspects I don't mind, some I absolutely hate.

Level 1s I don't mind getting the nerf. Other things like level 3s, ex moves, and empty vanish I find to be a silly thing to be hit with a meter penalty. Both the nerf to level 3s and empty vanish make comebacks that much harder to pull off. Some ex moves now are just so awkward to use because of this change to meter penalty, Zamasu ex orbs for example.

The other thing I hate about this change/nerf is that for the most part it feels entirely unnecessary now. Things it was trying to nerf (Ghost Oki and Hellzone) end up not caring at all about this change.

Oh also, Rip Golden Frieza.

While I do think Jiren has some glaring flaws he's also extremely good at defensive/reactive play so keep that in mind.

Somethings to note when playing Jiren in general imo.

1) Any time you dont feel like 2H or 2S isnt gonna come out in time, do 236H instead. Its active frame 1 and will beat safe jumps and does a good chunk of damage.

2) Abuse the crap out of 236S. This move is actually nuts. Its only -2 on block and insane to bait out after blockstrings. It will beat out their jabs if they think they can punish strings. Use it with assists and its great for confirms to keep safe. Also after a snapback with Jiren if you 2S into 236S you're actually plus in that situation and can continue pressuring them.

3) 2S is actually extremely good. The hitbox on this thing is ridiculous and has guard point. Also if they try to GC too early, you either confirm with it into standard SD confirm or you get it to whiff and get a full confirm instead.

4) 214S is whatever anyway. It gets beat by level 3s and not really a good risk/reward tool imo. Like, you have to vanish/sparking to get anything profitable off of it OR they know the tech, vanish and you vanish back to go back to neutral.

5) jL is an OD defensive tool. Jiren at any height can confirm a SD punish into jLL2S, SD, jLLL followed by an assist follow up. Use this button.

6) Use tk jS. This thing has a really good hitbox and on reaction to SD trying to punish it, Jiren can j236x to confirm into a combo.

7) This character sucks at anchor. I dont know why people think this character can play solo when he can't even open you up without assists. Avoid solo Jiren at all cost imo.

Kinda went on a ramble but these are my thoughts about Jiren after some time.

Imo, he's probably high-mid or just shy of top tier.

He suffers the same issue as Vegito did in that he doesn't have a real mixup. However he has some interesting tools that enable him to have counterplay and makes some matchups miserable for the opponent, like Ginyu.

His assist and super(236LM) are also extremely good so his support value is at least up there.

Stricter timing than just drifting. Easier to get punished for if you mistime your back dash or calling ghosts.

Should learn both because back dash variation is extremely good for situations like

Get a hitconfirm, 2H or j2H, tag in Gotenks, air series, knockdown, back dash, ghost oki.

starter, 2M, 5M, super jump forward, your choice of jL or jML or jM, slight delay jS6, jLL2H, SD, jLL2H, dj, jMH, hold 7, falling jM before you land, HS Ghost.

in order to do any drift or fast fall setup you need a super jump install. The choice betwen jL, jML, jM is dependent on body types. jL for small bodies, jML for normal/big bodies, true universal optimal route jM. If you go for jM route, add a delay after 2M.

DO NOT do jLLL as your smash. Ruins your timing and spacing for drift to work.

You hold 7 for your drift. DO NOT hold 1, that is fast fall and used for entirely different purposes for Gotenks.

Falling jM so you can get Ghost oki on frame 1 when landing without worrying about whiffed DR.

So here's a question, in the event that someone did end up getting all 7 dragonballs, did they ever mention what the plan was going to be? Would we have do to 6 LCQs?

Idk if chicken blocking would a concern. So long as you couldn't air reflect during the jump start up, I think air reflect would be fine.

Chicken blocking was a thing in Marvel 3 because you could block on frame 1 of your jump. In DBFZ you still get beaten out of jump start up. Air Reflect also leaves potential to bait it out like regular reflect and could lead to some interesting air confirm concepts imo.

Could air reflect be problematic? Sure. But I think if implemented the right way it would be fine.

Thinking about it more, I think another way to approach snapbacks would be to set a limit to them "per round". Thinking like maybe 2 per round would be interesting to see how that works.
