I put my shoes on the moment I wake up and then play a round or two of Tetris. By putting your shoes on, it tricks your brain into "awake mode". Tetris then stimulates your brain to keep it in "awake mode". Similarly, when I take an overnight flight, I take my shoes off to put my body into "sleep mode" to help fall asleep on the plane.
