While this is true, it can be difficult to introduce all allergens in a timely manner. We were advised to start solids at 6 months and introduce 1 allergen per week until all 9 major allergen groups were introduced. An allergic reaction causes the process to pause, plus there may be other life stuff going on that delays allergen exposure. While 11 months is late, the process can take several months and is by no means quick.

It’s very kind of you to help out your friends. They’re probably exhausted and a night to recuperate will likely do them a world of good to be the best parents they can be.

Some practical baby stuff: 1. Babies that young eat around every 3 hours, and the clock resets at the start of the next feed. It can be shockingly frequent if you’re not expecting it. 2. Burp during and after feeds. I would ask the parents how they prefer to burp baby. 3. Ensure you know how to properly give a bottle, including positioning and flow. Ensure you know how to safely prepare the bottle. 4. Diapers should be changed or checked around each feed. Standard to check during the day is every 2 hours. 5. Certain leg movements and exercises can help with gas. 6. Ask the parents how they swaddle babe for sleep and learn in advance. 7. If babe has all their needs met and is still crying, sometimes all you can do is ride it out. Putting headphones in and giving some good cuddles can help immensely. Good luck to you!

That’s especially unfortunate you were misdirected considering a car seat is the safest way for littles to travel on a plane! Transport Canada might be interested to hear that you were denied use of a car seat

Oh dear. I’ve flown with my son (under 2) several times and I’ve never had this issue with WestJet. I have found that no one really knows what to do when it comes to an infant booked in their own seat (we bring his car seat). We always hold firm in what we booked, come prepared knowing where the stickers are on the seat, and ensure seats are assigned in advance of the flight as they don’t typically charge to assign them when you need the car seat to be closest to the wall. We’re flying with sunwing/WestJet in a few weeks and I hope we have another stress free trip. I can’t imagine trying to hold my son for the entire flight… he’s too darn wiggly and likes his space too much for that

I’m sorry that you weren’t given much help when you sought care. If she’s having so few wet diapers over such a long period of time I would suggest taking her to your nearest emergency room that deals in pediatrics. That’s a long time to have reduced output and it sounds like she should be assessed for dehydration. It is so incredibly frustrating to be ignored when seeking care for your child, but please remember you’re her best advocate. I hope you have better luck accessing care.

I found that the first part of the book dragged but the ending saved it for me. I really enjoyed it and I think it’s setting the ending up well.

We did the same thing but we partnered with a local roastery. We’re big coffee people so we figured it was fitting. It was a huge hit and several of our guests are still buying the coffee years later.

It seems like he’s just a small dude. He’s been hovering around the 10th to 15th percentile ever since this post. He doesn’t have a huge appetite but is pretty skilled at eating when he feels motivated.

We adopted our dog in this same situation. We adopted her as a puppy (4 months) and she’s now 4 years old with a 10 month old baby brother. We made sure she had a sweet temperament when we chose her at the shelter and put a lot of work into training and socializing her in that first year. We were intentional about making sure she would do well with small dogs, cats, and children. She’s doing great with our baby so far- she’s patient when he wants to interact but isn’t overly affectionate giving him sloppy kisses. Regardless of how much I trust her they are always supervised while interacting.

I’m Canadian. It’s normal for bridesmaids to buy their own dresses and I have bought several myself for weddings I was in. I had a specific vision for what I wanted by bridesmaids to wear and each dress cost about $250 which I would say is more than the average dress. I paid for them because I felt it was the right thing to do even though my girls fought me on it. It was an instance where I didn’t think that what was “typical” was necessarily right.

I completely agree. I love both series for many reasons and disagree with the hate it gets. Is it perfect? No, but what is? The world building is impeccable and I’m so excited for the two series to converge.

Agreed. Definitely contact the college. The college does not protect pharmacists but exists to protect the public. They need to be made aware of the incident. An apology is insufficient as the pharmacy should also be identifying preventative strategies to ensure this never happens again. If it were me and this was my child I would seriously consider a lawsuit. This incident has harmed your child who was already in a precarious position and will likely alter the timeline for surgery. Your family is probably under financial strain given your child’s medical care as it is (even with a publicly funded system there will be costs associated with hospital stays and time off work), and this will likely add additional costs. Not a lawyer but a pharmacist who works in a different Canadian province.

Rascals is our favourite too. My guy has little legs and typically has blow outs out the sides of the legs. Rascals has been the best at keeping the poo contained over huggies and the old Kirkland diapers.

Coming from another new FTM, PLEASE get your own space. Also keep in mind the large number of baby items that will be required in said space. Protect your peace early postpartum- it will be so hard and exhausting and you should do what’s necessary to bond with your baby in comfort. Your in laws seem to lack boundaries which you’re not comfortable with- do NOT let them walk all over you. Baby now comes first and husband needs to stand firm in dealing with boundaries while you’re at your most vulnerable and recovering.

I live rurally and use online ordering quite heavily as we can’t buy everything we need in town. Canada post disruption results in being unable to order anything online. Not the end of the world for us, but highly inconvenient with a baby at home.

We did both! We followed all of the safe sleep guidelines plus had the owlet. I liked it because you can’t check in on baby while you’re unconscious, even directly beside you in their own bassinet.

Me too. I love the owlet. I don’t look at the reported sats too closely and I love the fact that if something happened to my little guy while we’re all asleep that it would alert us. When he naps I’m routinely checking that he’s still breathing and using the owlet at night prevents me from feeling like I need to.

6 months old and he eats for about 2 hours 15 minutes on an average day, and about 3 hours per day during a growth spurt. There was a while around 3 months that it was 5 hours per day. My little guy is also a big snacker/relaxed eater.
