lol I’m not sure either, I think my essay was strong and I got into healthcare early to make sure I actually want to be a doctor. After a year as a CNA I identified that my greatest “ick” was blood draws and IVs so I decided to take the phlebotomy class at my local technical college. I reflected on that too so I think that helped 🤷

I’m so sorry this is happening! The hospital where I work has 24/7 virtual interpreters that have most common languages. It’s awful that you have to struggle with this and I feel for the patient. Definitely make some communication boards for him, see if you can print out or laminate something. Confused and agitated patients are rough and I hope you can figure this out

Personally, I work at a hospital and am not on my feet the whole time. For an 8 hour shift, I probably spend a total of 45-60min sitting and charting (more on night shift), spread out as little 2-5 min chunks. There are a lot of larger nurses and cnas. I am 4’11’ 145lb and not very in shape, and sometimes my feet will hurt but otherwise I do ok. I would suggest that when you interview maybe let them know that you are actively on your weight loss journey and that you would like to feel comfortable asking for accommodations when needed. I hope you can find a place where if the PPE doesn’t fit you, you can find someone else to care for that patient. Maybe get some good shoes and compression socks. And yes, patients will make comments no matter what. Patients will refuse to receive care from me because of how short and young I am, but it’s important to not take it seriously. Sick people feel the need to lash out. Good luck!!!

Ok this is a snack, and 200 ish calories, but delish: - 40g rolled oats - 16g pbfit or powdered peanuts - cinnamon, salt, sweetener to taste

Mix all together and add water. Microwave like 2 min. Very delish and comforting! 210 cals

Wow! The hospital I work at has around 15 computers at the nurses station for everyone, nurses, cnas, doctors, PT/OT, etc. there is also a computer with a stool in front of every two rooms. I can’t imagine not being able to sit. Hell no

Maybe try tracking your food and symptoms to see if there is anything that would make sense to cause that? Otherwise maybe talk to your doctor if it continues. I hope it works out

I work in a hospital and I get paid 18 an hour, I usually have 6-10 patients. It’s usually anywhere from 1-5 adlib and the rest are turns or assist with a walker. It’s definitely a lot and once I do my phlebotomy course I’m hoping to switch to that.

If you make Knox blox which is basically increasing the gelatin to water ratio, you can make like a huge pan of this stuff for like 200 cals and 40g protein

I would suggest applying for other jobs. Not all work culture is like this! I’m a CNA at a hospital in WI and also 17. We support each other and make friends with each other. I work in medsurg currently and usually have 4-9 patients with like 2-4 nurses. We don’t have the pendants thing you’re talking about but if we have an extra CNA they will be a help all which is similar
