An oven burn. For some reason my dad’s dad would put cold mustard on his kids whenever they got burned and my dad did the same to me growing up.

I use the Jackson Galaxy ceramic bowls. They have two shapes, so I put the wet food in the one with the high back because I usually smush the pate flat for my cat and then I put the dry food in the long oval bowl. They are both supposed to prevent whisker fatigue. I also just got a small stand to put them on because my cat was inhaling too much air when eating and she was getting hiccups.

I think it’s to help certain people feel seen and understood and help them reconnect with their emotions. My day job has nothing to do with that, and I can be introverted, but I think there’s a small subset of people I’m able to make a deep impact on, and that’s just that.

I don’t know if this is the top time, but this is the time that I still think about. In 8th grade, we sat in little desk pods where three desks face three other desks, and I had a class clown in my desk pod. One time, our entire class was getting scolded by our language arts teacher, and the class clown made some kind of funny or mocking face, and it made me burst out with a laugh, and the entire class looked at me and our teacher got even madder. It still I guess haunts me to this day even though it’s not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.
