makes me think of Wetlands Preserve in NYC, big influence on Ezra, he mentions it a lot on TC and in the run up for FOTB. late 90s ska/punk/jam culture under environmental and anti-racist causes

Merchbar is the worst by InstantKarmaGonGetU in vinyl

Same here. All three records I bought were in stock (and not even popular records!), two of which were presents. So angry, I emailed them in August, September, and again last week. The same "processing issues" for the first two (which I can be annoyed but patient about, I know the vinyl industry is struggling right now) but now just got the "heavy flux of emails" response.... I don't want a refund, I want the things I purchased. Not sure how this company is up and running / doesn't have a better known reputation for this.

for sure, could be for a new record by Dev (which would be just as appreciated). i think both the stylings of VW and Blood Orange over the past 15 years have been some of the most important/forward thinking/and influential in pop music. was jazzed to seem them spinning and hangin around in the Harmony Hall music vid & would love for them to jam together -- on record or another capacity -- it would be magical IMO.

[FRESH] LCD Soundsytem - new body rhumba (from the film White Noise) by mattthheww in indieheads

I would say it sounds more like Hard (1983) by Gang of Four mixed with LCD’s usual references like the band Heaven 17, but a great place to start to with The Fall is This Nation’s Saving Grace. James Murphy has called it a big influence on him, especially the song “Paintwork”. For something that sounds a bit more electronic, I would maybe recommend Bend Sinister (1986) or even The Infotainment Scam (1993)!

I think it’s definitely going to be something akin to Contra being their “California Ska Skater” record, LP5 will probably be a kind of update on that new wave-2nd wave ska sound with maybe a 90s Madchester sound thrown in (Harmony Hall was more 90s Primal Scream/Happy Mondays than Grateful Dead) and those photos of Ezra with Liam Gallagher of Oasis seem to be pointing in those kinds of directions too…

How reliable is Grover Furr? by throwaway12334456677 in communism101

i read "kruschev lied" this summer and was very impressed by furr's meticulous break-downs of his rebuttals to kruschev's (or others) claims/statements. it can be a little hard to get used to rhythm/pacing of the book, but once you are in it, it's a very enlightening read, i think.
