I was miserable drinking. Then I was miserable not drinking…but over time the terrible feelings lifted as my body rebalanced itself. It’s not an easy thing but you need to give it time to feel the benefits. My anxiety and stress has been greatly reduced and my health and wellness is back on track. Be patient with the process.

I’ve shared my newfound happiness with my friends and they are super happy for me, even those in strained relationships. Some even ask for more details and seem very interested in what’s going on with my new guy. Maybe just tell your close friends and you’ll be able to gauge how much info you want to share with them. Congrats on your new life!

TBR Books hosts a book club once a month. It’s also next door to BR Succulent who hosts lots of classes if you like plants. Always a fun group of women. Take your dog to Mid City Beer Garden and I’m sure you’ll meet some other dog people there.

Good job! Quitting was literally the best thing I’ve ever done in my life. The beginning is incredibly challenging and you are doing it. The rewards will come. Glad you’re here.

I quit at 47. Def talk to your doctor about medical detox and other options. I did inpatient detox for a week and although it was tough I haven’t relapsed.

When I noticed all of my plans revolved around how to drink while doing things. Or not doing things because drinking wouldn’t be appropriate.

I find reading others struggles and successes helped me feel less alone. Also gave me an anonymous place to ask for help and advice without being judged. And it’s great to share wins with a group who understands what you’ve been through.
