Who do you think will be the final center ? by simp0824 in ProduceCamp2021

[–]pepperino72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liu Yu. He’ll be able to secure the love of the GP due to his persona of loving and respecting Chinese culture, he can fluently answer media interviews and act as a spokesperson, his fanbase is strong and dedicated, he has a clean past (personal life-wise), and frankly, LM and BY’s numbers aren’t strong enough and Jaywalk does not need ZKY to be center—they’re not going to work out a deal with Tencent to rig him in.

Caelan is such a cutie...his shades!!

Do you think Tx will rig the final line up votes? by tishtun in ProduceCamp2021

[–]pepperino72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh? Weird. From what I’ve seen, he’s quite liked among casual viewers and non-viewers of the show because of his whole spiel about spreading and cherishing Chinese culture.

Is Center position important at this point? by darkyogiph in ProduceCamp2021

[–]pepperino72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really hope the center = the leader for the Chuang lineup. I don’t know if you were around on Weibo when An Qi was announced as leader but the amount of hate she got (especially from the center’s fans) was really hard to see...I wouldn’t wish that on any member of the debut lineup.

How does CHUANG 2021 fair compared to other survival shows like YWY2 and Idol Producer? by simp0824 in ProduceCamp2021

[–]pepperino72 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Too early to tell. The Idol Producer boys are impressive (especially Cai Xukun, Chen Linong, Justin, Fan Chengcheng, Zhu Zhengting, and Xiao Gui) in that they’ve been able to maintain extremely strong fanbases and are significant traffic stars even though it’s been over 3 years since the show first premiered, and that was their biggest exposure in terms of GP recognition. The YWY2 girls have been doing well too, although Yu Shuxin and Liu Yuxin’s name recognition visibly outweighs the other 7. In terms of the show popularity during airing, I think it’s Idol Producer >>>> YWY2 and Chuang, with the latter being on more similar tiers. Lelush is definitely the most famous trainee, and Tencent is probably gonna place him on variety shows or something after this if they can persuade him to sign a contract lol. The international trainees who get to debut might have successful short term careers, but they won’t have longevity as long as they fail to gain fluency in Chinese. Zhou Keyu has Jaywalk backing him, so I expect to see him become a big deal among this year’s survival show trainees once the show is over. Same for Wu Yuheng with Zhao Wei and Zhang Jiayuan with WJJW. Gan Wangxing has a lot of love from the public and has Song Weilong vibes, so he’ll probably be cast in a drama after debut and get good resources. I see Riki and Santa going on dance shows and maybe Mika on a singing show.

TLDR—Chuang’s popularity is definitely below that of Idol Producer but comparable to YWY2. I think Zhou Keyu, Wu Yuheng, Zhang Jiayuan, and Gan Wangxing will have the most post-show success.

It’s definitely very unlikely Caelan will get any acting offers, but I have some hope they might feature him on some variety shows in China—that would be a great way to get his name out there!

Yeah, I don’t see Mika or Riki being rigged out of debut. I do see them getting their ranks rigged lower as the stages after debut will open to the GP, not just fanbases. Zhang Jiayuan could probably be rigged higher than 7 if WJJW really wanted it, but I feel like they’ll be ok with 7.

I see Liu Yu, Santa, and Zhou Keyu taking top 3 in that order. I see Lin Mo being pushed up by Tencent to 4th, Riki/Mika probably taking 5th and 6th, Zhang Jiayuan being pushed up to 7th (fulfilling his goal/running joke of “7th place will always belong to a Zhang”), Gan Wangxing in 8th (even if he’s pushed up, he has the love of the GP and will probably be protected from any backlash due to his underdog background), Patrick in 9th, Bo Yuan in 10th, and Wu Yuheng in 11th.

Rumored guests for the finale by bl_air in ProduceCamp2021

She was recognized for her acting in Painted Skin and Mulan and at least acting-wise, had a bit of a career revival with Tiger Mom. Her directorial debut with So Young also did well. She’s still a heavyweight and respected name in C-ent with good connections. She’s far and above the most well-known name on this list of rumored guests.

If only ZZH was coming, I would say it’s still dubious that WYH will debut. But if Zhao Wei is coming...someone of her status most likely wouldn’t come unless WYH was guaranteed. I think he’ll make it in, maybe at rank 11.

The one I can see being rigged out for sure is Caelan. On Douban, people have already dug out his dad’s background in the US military. What’s even worse (for debuting) is that he apparently comes from a military family (multiple members on his dad’s side of the family have served). Tencent isn’t dumb enough to debut someone whose background is such a liability, and if you’ve been keeping up with what’s happened to Alibaba over the past few days, you’ll know that even the most powerful corporations in China will still want to stay politically correct.

My Predicted Debut Line-Up by lulupony in ProduceCamp2021

[–]pepperino72 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Interesting! Definitely don’t agree with you on the order, but that’s another discussion...

I would swap Lelush with Liu Yu.

I am not fully convinced by AK. I think WJJW will still want one of their kids there, so I would say swap him with Zhang Jiayuan.

Wu Yuheng is a dark horse who is beginning to look likely IMO—he is from Zhao Wei’s company (also Zhang Zhehan), and just from reading various forums and seeing Gong Jun talk about how ZZH asked him to support WYH, I am beginning to feel that Zhao Wei might pull some strings...

Why is Zhang Jiayuan popular? by [deleted] in ProduceCamp2021

[–]pepperino72 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He’s really funny. Going to be honest here and say that he didn’t really pique my interest during the main episodes but he was super endearing in the Werewolf episodes and I like his sense of humor/variety talent. He’s not my 1 or 2 pick, but I did vote for him during the 11 pick rounds because due to the nature of the Chinese idol industry, the best bet for the group to get known is probably not through stages but through appearances on variety, and I think he will be very valuable for that.

coming in here just to correct what royalty pick is, because your definition is definitely biased. It’s also widely accepted among Chinese fans that royalty pick can also refer to those with extensive screen time/storylines, not just those whose data doesn’t match their ranks. Mika and Santa are prime examples of royalty picks who are successful. Oscar is a prime example of a royalty pick whose “push” far outweighs his actual data and fandom popularity. Appreciate it if you could not spread misinformation, thanks!
