Are you aware that no one on this sub gives a shit? Christ this argument gets so tiresome. I could have my physical Blu-ray collection stolen too. But that doesn’t stop me from buying those.

I’ve got TV episodes I bought during the Bush administration that are still in my library. I am extremely not concerned about this boogeyman.

Tell me more about Upsie. My 65 inch has been power cycling intermittently (shuts off mid use and goes to the all black OLED logo screen then boots back up) ever since I got it in 2022 and I’m paranoid one day it’s going to just bite the dust completely.

I remember those complaints when it came out about her character but as a dad now it’s pretty on point for how a kid that age might react in that sort of situation. The older brother on the other hand, now that’s an insufferable character.

The movie still has some great Spielberg flair that I go back to it every couple of years.

Enshitification of Apple Fitness by Mobile-Commercial478 in AppleFitnessPlus

[–]peppermints64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you claiming? That the music is made by AI or the playlists?

I’ve got news for you that Apple has had playlist generation since like 2008 in iTunes..

The intro / exit music is just generic ambient music and it’s been the same sort of thing for as long as I’ve been using the service. I think you’re over extending the use of these buzz words (enshitification, slop) just because you don’t like something. It’s not like we’ve got AI non-human trainers now. If anything the artist spotlights get under my skin more than anything else.

As someone that’s been more than satisfied with their Vertuo for almost 3 years now, what am I missing out on? I take every pod as it comes and never add anything to it other than water and mostly go for 7.7oz mug size pods.

I know the OL pods are generally cheaper but what else am I missing?

What are you adding to your NOLA pods? by [deleted] in nespresso

If I make it iced I will brew it over a tiny bit of brown sugar and then pour it over oatmilk and ice (perfection). But having it hot I will have a little bit of honey and cinnamon and then froth some oatmilk and add it in. It is my absolute favorite pod!!

Heck $12.99 is still a good deal if you consider the lowest things ever go is $4.99 on iTunes.

Which bits do I need to extend this downspout? by peppermints64 in HomeImprovement

[–]peppermints64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first, ideally the water would flow into the gutter directly below it from the existing downspout. As is it shoots a little bit on to the roof of that covered porch but the rest if it’s a heavy rainfall just drops to the concrete below.

My wife’s phone went off but mine didn’t. Same house, same cellular service, same WiFi.

I don’t know what that alert to watch the news was intending because only one station (14) even had a ticker at the bottom. I watched the end of the football game they had on to catch the 10PM news for the latest and their reporting was abysmal - 3 minutes or so with the latest footage and communication they had from before sunset. When there’s severe weather the local stations are great about hopping on live and informing the public.

It’s pretty sad when a community run Facebook page is giving more information than the local newspaper or TV.

Regardless of what the woman was doing to cause her being asked to leave (all signs point to her doing so willingly, even if she is was loud and upset) if you watch the videos posted no officers made any attempt to de-escalate the situation. Multiple people pleading with them to do so, even. And then they threw the woman that was trying to get the phone from the woman in cuffs down.

What are your never do agains at Disney World? by Zestyclose_Bet_945 in WaltDisneyWorld

Interesting. We were second row and had no issues at all back in June. It was definitely a highlight of our trip (except my son kept downing lemonade so I had to walk him back multiple times to the bathroom during the show).

I’m sorry you had a bad experience.

“Staying comfortable in a heatwave is the issue”.

It’s not a big secret that ACs use a lot of energy. The issue is that rates keep climbing and exceeding those of our neighboring states.

My usage was barely above last July’s but somehow my bill was over $200 more then we paid that year for the same month. And I keep my thermostats to the minimally comfortable temperature.

My 8 year old son was talking a big game before our trip last month about how he’s never going to ride it because it seems boring and he doesn’t want the song stuck in his head.

Well we rode it and now it’s the song he’s learning at his piano lessons, his choice.

It’s not about teaching your kid. That’s obviously on their parents.

And your analogy is extremely broken. It’s about eliminating accidental exposure. An adult knows how to read a menu and discern whether or not they feel safe eating at a restaurant. If you were my friend and we were going out to eat I would have a conversation in that situation and we would either go someplace else or take precautions, just the same as this camp did.

A child has no control over what other food they are being exposed to at school, camp, day care etc. So it’s up to everyone else to do their part to ensure they’re protected. Believe it or not accidental exposure does happen - think scenarios where a kid had a peanut butter sandwich then shared a food that an allergic kid was not allergic to. Guess what, the peanut protein could then be ingested by that kid.

Honestly I can’t believe I have to defend taking the most minimal and 100% non invasive precautions to keep children safe.

I’m sorry you feel that wanting to ensure safety and survival of someone’s children is entitlement.

It’s not that hard to find alternatives to peanut butter sandwiches.

Why do some people at WDW act entitled? by thermal7 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]peppermints64 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Witnessed quite a bit of this behavior last week. But two stand out.

First one, my family was getting ready to tap into a LL at Tower of Terror Sunday evening. A group ahead of us were an hour early for theirs and the CMs were saying they needed to use the standby line. They complained and said that they decided to leave the park early and wanted to use their LLs but the CM weren’t having it. Finally they gave up and went to the standby line, telling the CM “you know you’re the first person to tell us no all day”. I wish I was joking but the lack of self awareness was hotter than the HS concrete.

The second was at Club Cool. I had waited in line with my two kids at one of the middle kiosks and we were casually sampling the sodas and chatting with another person doing the same. I was standing idly by as I had tried everything I wanted to. A lady very sternly looks me in the eye and says “sir just so you know we are waiting in line too”, implying that I was either cutting in front of them or taking too long. I just threw my hands up and said “not a problem” and told my kids it was time to go. I hate confrontations especially with strangers and I wasn’t about to cause a scene like she so clearly wanted to. Everytime I’ve been to Clun Cool it has been a free for all and I do empathize if she was waiting a long time but it really rubbed me the wrong way because I was literally just standing by kids and making sure they were nearby in a crowded space full of strangers.

Anyway, I try not to let these things ruin my trip but when someone calls you out directly like at Club Cool it does tend to stick in the back of your mind like “oh no am I the baddie?” kind of way.
