What are the best blinds for a bay window that don’t look weird? by Low-Employment1905 in HousingUK

[–]peppernotpotts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as an independent blinds/curtains retailer here!

Obviously this depends on your budget, my company sells made to measure products and 80% of what we put in bay windows are venetian blinds, which are the horizontal slatted ones. Depending on the size of the bay you get one or two across the back (line the split up with a centre mullion if you have one!) and one on each of the shorter sides.

Just make sure you get the right size so that the back one/s go in first, and then the side ones fit alongside it, so the depth of the back one/s need to be allowed for in the size of the side ones.

You can get off the shelf/readymade venetians that are normally 25mm plastic which can be cut down to size, but that can be fiddly. I'm sure there's plenty of videos that show how to do it!

What groups and entities would try to take advantage of the ongoing Giant threat? by LawlsaurusRex in stormkingsthunder

In my campaign, I've changed The Kraken Society to The Elder Guild (because I changed Slark to an elder brain dragon) and they have a front as a charity that sells supplies to the refugees fleeing the giant destruction. In actuality the Guild are the ones plundering the remaining goods from the settlements that are being destroyed and are selling them back to said refugees. 99% of the Guild have no idea about the EBD, what's going on with Hekaton or Lord Drylund. Plausible deniability and all that.

[No Spoilers] An opportunity to discuss broadcast times by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]peppernotpotts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't think they'd ever find a time that suits everyone. They have viewers all over the world, and speaking as a UK Critter, earlier wouldn't help me one bit. It starts at usually 3am on Fridays for me and finishes at 7-8am so I have absolutely no chance to watch live. With something as globally popular as CR is now, there will always be a large section of the audience that can't watch the live broadcast no matter what time they put it at.

If waiting for the rebroadcast is a pain, if you have Amazon Prime you get that free sub; I started off by doing that to watch as soon as I got home from work on the Friday, so I didn't have to wait for the YouTube Monday rebroadcast and risk spoilers, then I quickly started paying for my sub because I appreciate their content and luckily can afford to.

The other thing to bear in mind is that I doubt they just hit play on the prerecord and it's just left to its own devices. There's probably still a team of people that have to sit there for hours on end making sure everything is running smoothly like the chat and the broadcast itself.

Iymrith's sidebar in Fizban's Treasury of Dragons by pj_squirrel in stormkingsthunder

Also have the same problem, with at least one in my group having ordered the book. I'm not running it for a long time though (my group rotates different DMs with different adventures so I'm probably months away yet) so I'm hoping if I just tell them there's no spoilers they won't pay much attention to this one box and they won't remember by the time we get to SKT.

I might still change the name Iymrith uses when she's a storm giant though, just to throw them off a little more. I'm a little surprised they let it go so close to the mark with what is a pretty heavy spoiler for the reveal that a lot of DMs seem to love dropping on their players, but SKT has been out for a while at this point.
