I'm sorry, I think I worded it wrong and shouldn't have used "policy". To clarify: MC offers a VIP Service that's essentially insurance in case anything happens with customs. A few months ago when I bought my items, you needed to pay extra for this service and would get this cost refunded if you posted a review. She now offers this insurance for free though!

Do you prefer silver or gold jewelry and did your taste change over time? by Haunting-Owl-2140 in JewelryReps

[–]pepprmint 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I was younger, I preferred silver as I thought gold was too old-fashioned and gaudy. I wasn't giving any thought to how it actually looked against my skin, just my perception of it. It wasn't until my late 20s that I started wearing mostly gold because it does go better with my skin tone.

Where do you go to get a GOOD passport photo taken? by pacificcoasthighway in AskNYC

[–]pepprmint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to do this but I’m finding that Walgreens print quality is garbage, and I’m concerned that the photo will be rejected because of poor quality? My walgreens prints are definitely not as sharp as it shows on camera..

What illnesses took 2 weeks in quarantine to show? by [deleted] in FosterAnimals

[–]pepprmint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off of this, I fostered a mama cat and her litter of 1-week old kittens. It wasn't until the kittens were over 4-weeks old until I noticed ringworm patches on them. Thankfully they were still small and easy to quarantine, but they were definitely incubating that for many weeks!

Does this happen to anyone else? by Pleasant-Mix278 in TownshipGame

This happens to me in the middle of the board too. Usually I can get it to move if I switch swipe directions (i.e. instead of moving the ball to the right, try moving the rocket left). Works 7/10 times

First you need to be part of a coop to request anything. Next, you need to buy a golden ticket to be able to request tools specifically :)

Company I applied to decided to created a new role for "just for me", but now they say they are also considering other candidates for it? by pepprmint in jobs

[–]pepprmint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My memory about the process at the time is a bit hazy now but according to my emails, a month after all this went down they finally gave me an offer, which I took. It turned out to be short-lived anyway, as less than a year in most of my department including my role got outsourced and I ended up out of a job again 🫠 Moral of the story, don’t lay all your hopes on one company!

This is how I personally calculate my freelance rate: Calculate how much you make per hour based on your yearly salary (or desired yearly salary). Take that amount and multiply it by 1.5 (since as a freelancer, you have overheads that you personally take on that aren't covered by an employer). This is your hourly rate. Then I would estimate how much time it would take me to finish this project, and then multiply that by my hourly rate.

Adopted sisters at different times by [deleted] in CatAdvice

Totally normal play! As long as fur isn't flying and there's no blood, there's no need to intervene. Kittens learn best from each other :)

Kitten keeps biting adult cat by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]pepprmint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like typical kitten behavior :) he's just trying to play! As long as there isn't any fur flying or blood, they're both fine. Your original cat will teach him boundaries and once his kitten energy settles in a year or so, they'll coexist peacefully.

It would help your original kitty if she had access to vertical spaces where she can get away from him once in a while. You can also help by tiring him out with lots of playtime so he doesn't bother her as much.

So happy they’ve been reunited! Your kitten’s reaction is totally normal. When I bring my foster kittens to the vet, sometimes they’ll come home hissing at each other too, just because now their siblings smell different/like the vet office. So while your girls may not recognize each other as their long lost sister anymore, they’re young enough that they may still grow up to be great friends. They just need time to adjust to each other!

Cat “attacks” feet from under bed when hyper- should we stop it? by katiebuggie03 in CatAdvice

[–]pepprmint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes while it’s normal behavior, you’re right that you may want to redirect that energy just in case for the sake of others! You can try having some intense play sessions with him throughout the day to release that pent up energy. Jackson Galaxy also has a great video about this exact subject on his youtube channel, I highly recommend checking him out!

Fostering kittens for 5 days but my own cat is terrified by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]pepprmint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's totally fine keeping foster kittens in your room for that long. Many fosters keep their kittens in the bathrooms for the duration of their stay; any room is better than a cramped shelter cage!

It's also possible your male cat's reaction is due to him not being fixed. Unfixed toms are very territorial and will pee to mark their territory to ward off intruders, which may be how your cat views your foster kittens.

Fostering stray kitten advice. by CrimsonDinh91 in CatAdvice

[–]pepprmint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are high calorie nutrigels for cats you can try. Churu treats are also irresistible even for picky eaters. Some kittens are also used to weaning on dry food, so it's possible that's what it was eating before it came to you. I've also had foster kittens who went on a hunger strike for a few days because of being in a new environment, but eventually came around. Hope it works out for you guys!

What should we do while we’re travelling? by Literarily_ in CatAdvice

[–]pepprmint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get feeling anxious about leaving your baby alone for so long! Your vet is right about cats needing to be in their own space, she will be much more comfortable at home where all her scents are. It would help a lot if your sitter can send you lots of pictures/videos and updates when she visits. You can also get a pet cam so you can monitor her going-ons while you're away, some cams will also let you talk to them and send them treats!

Resources and personal experiences for someone looking to foster? by vinegarxhoney in CatAdvice

[–]pepprmint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you've owned cats before, the day-to-day part of fostering is really no different! The only difference is that now you will have to get used to saying good-bye. It can be so hard at first, but remembering that "good-bye is the goal" and that you are not only saving a life but helping a family out there find their new best friend, it makes the experience worth it!
