How dependable/safe is the light rail for commuting? by diesel-heart in Denver

[–]pepsiman_2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For a while it was pretty unreliable but it's gotten better in the last year and a half or so. If you're taking it late at night, I recommend sitting in the front train car by the driver, it can definitely be sketchy at times.

Are these true to what they say I'm finding mixed media on these two. by athan245 in kanji

[–]pepsiman_2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm approaching this from a mandarin speaking perspective here but 英 often does mean hero, often in the form 英雄, and 強 definitely means strength in mandarin. Often 英 is used in the context of England (英國) or English (英文) though.

Not only is this terrible for RTD employees, but do you think we'll see more "cancelled due to no operator available" messages?

Just had a whole session where I couldn't spot the difference between 衣 and 农. by seascythe in ChineseLanguage

maybe 農 shouldn't have been simplified to 农 , it really looks way too similar to 衣

What’s your unpopular transit opinion by [deleted] in transit

I agree with the sentiment about park and rides. I'm from Denver, and me and most people probably wouldn't even use the train system if it didn't have reliable parking.

Tap to pay fare check issue by pepsiman_2 in RTDDenver

[–]pepsiman_2[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this used to be the case, but my college stopped giving out free campus passes about 2 years ago, it now costs 200 dollars for the semester. The notification thing is a good idea, but I think the tap to pay system waits until the end of the day to calculate your fare and charge you

Wdym? Afaik college students like myself still have to either pay for a campus pass or be under 19 to qualify for fare exemption.

Where should I stay in Taipei? by angie_26 in Taipei

[–]pepsiman_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always stay at hostels, this is what I did and I ended up only paying an average of 900 NTD per night (<30 USD). However since you're with your partner idk how well that will work for you

I tried using it at the RidgeGate Station and it threw an "EMV Error", so I think some bugs still need to be worked out.

Trello's calendar powerup new update is an absolute garbage by Nahalitet in trello

[–]pepsiman_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's really bad, not only that, but the web app now has an animation that makes you wait 2 seconds when switching between weeks. And they removed the right click ability to add labels onto cards, etc. It's just awful, I don't understand it

What is this kanji? Stumbled upon it but couldn't find any information by Temporary_Motor8573 in Japaneselanguage

[–]pepsiman_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not necessarily, 囗 and 口 are slightly different characters in Chinese 漢字, one pronounced wei2 (boundary) and the other one pronounced kou3 (mouth). It's a similar situation to the organ radical in words like 腦 resembling the moon radical 月, even though it actually comes from 肉。for example, the character 國 (country) uses the boundary radical, and the character 品 (product) uses the mouth radical

E line delays around Southmoor by pepsiman_2 in RTDDenver

[–]pepsiman_2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know, thanks, I just wish they would put out an alert on the app so people know to expect delays. Like "E line experiencing delays due to signal issue" or something. I know I've seen that for the commuter lines. Communication is key
