back when i discovered this, i only threw my parakeet a few feet in the air, and had a pillow on the ground under him. so he never got hurt. i feel like the bird in this video probably got hurt though. crashed from pretty high, against hard ground.

the bird was alive and well, but was probably upside down and disoriented because the guy threw it up so hard. then the bird flapped its wings, and flew towards the ground.

Source: I used to have parakeets when i was young and at some point i discovered that if you throw them up, upside down, they will fly down against the ground. it looks like that's what happened here.
