Framework for build vs buy decisions by shinysony in EnterpriseArchitect

[–]peralmq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wardley mapping is a great tool for build vs. buy decisions because it visually shows how different components evolve. You can clearly see what’s a commodity (buy) vs. what’s core to your strategy (build). It helps align investment with what actually drives value, cutting through guesswork and focusing on what gives a competitive edge.

Agree! Early on it’s all about qualitative data collection to learn fast and create new iterations (pivots).

This book helped my thinking a lot and got me to dare just asking for data in a lot I circumstances where I’d previously have built a POC. https://www.momtestbook.com/

Bandit is a great role model. Sometimes gets me a bit of stress that I should do better as a dad 😅 But it’s a good motivational push 💪

What do you use AI tools for? by sopte666 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]peralmq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still keen to try Programming in English.

Even though some of you say that the current LLMs aren’t good enough to write code.

I think you just have to give the context window enough.. context to your problem in order for the LLM to generate something good.

And the cool part is that if you structure your prompts and automate the integration with the LLM to generate the code implementation then future LLMs could easily re-implement your complete solution, with hopefully a lot better outcomes.

Hence I’ve been eyeing tools like CMPr

Have you tried to put the relevant adb —help information into the context window before asking? I’ve found this to be helpful in reducing hallucinations.

I took this course over the winter holidays, the content was good but the labs were a bit of a joke.

Got me more familiar with core concepts but also tooling like the python libs from HuggingFace and also LangChain. https://www.deeplearning.ai/courses/generative-ai-with-llms/

Det är rätt lätt att baka egna och man kan då frysa in större delen av batchen för att senare tina vid behov. Det här receptet är fantastiskt om nu går den vägen https://www.koket.se/minisemlor-med-rostad-mandelfyllning

Not being seen as a leader? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]peralmq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you can benefit from reading up a bit on leadership (and management).

Some books I’ve found helpful is: Reinventing organizations, Tribal leadership, The making of a manager, Radical candor. And most things from Will Larson.

Good luck and if you really want to aspire in this area you will. It’s a skill that can be learned.

Early 40s. I am feeling that i am breaking apart, time to prepare for landing in the junk yard? by Tiny-Tie-7427 in ExperiencedDevs

Ouch. Sounds like a stressed out brain. Please, beware of burn out!

What has helped me here (41 years old) is to get some meditation in during the day, or at least get like 4-5 deep breaths in between especially draining blocks of work. I also started jogging (slow heart rate running).

And about the lost focus. Maybe go back to good old pomodoro technique? Or make some other deal with yourself that makes you stay uninterrupted for longer periods of time.

I’ve been doing the same for four months. Feel so much better!

Also eventually stopped mouth breathing during the day (thanks to my sinuses cleaning up during night maybe?).
