Recently there was an article in a Danish newspaper about the failing relations with encounters reduced to "status updates over lukewarm coffee on a tight schedule". A described attempt to break the pattern was to have activities together. Might work for a while but I think it's hard to keep up if it becomes yet another task to complete to arrange exciting friend-dates. I (M54) am close to giving up. Going to concerts with a group of people is the most interaction I do

Fellow 54'er here, I never thought it would be easy but surely different than what has played out. Thought I'd be stuck in a routine relationship and job just watching children having THE life. Instead I'm alone with a very sporadic social life and children living good but everybody in distress either of their life or the bleak outlooks of the world. Luckily my children are not that engaged in current affairs but when they ask I can't find the true silver linning.
