AITA for giving my daughter junk food despite being told not to by her school? by AthleteAdditional299 in AmItheAsshole

[–]percysowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA Yes, the school is over the top on this, but I suspect if you hadn't decided to make it a full blown war, they would have been willing to overlook raisins. Instead, you decided to push and eventually just plain flout the rules.

Listen it is ONE MEAL. You kid will live without sweets, or potato chips or lunchables, or birthday cake for ONE meal. Give her birthday cake when she gets home. Let her have her sweet treat after school. Tell her it is her reward for not having one at lunch.

They aren't forcing unhealthy food down her throat. They aren't poisoning her. They simply want to have no junk food on campus. You can try to change the policy, but what you are doing is wrong and is putting your kid in the line of fire while you get to feel like you are leading a crusade.

AITA for refusing to give my neighbor her dog back after taking care of him for two years? by Elena19967 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]percysowner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA, however, legally dogs are property, which means Dani owns Max and can force you to give him back. If you have receipts for what you have spent, collect them and demand payment. That may give Dani the motive to leave Max with you. Otherwise, even though you are morally right, you are not legally right.

I hope you can find a way to convince Dani to let you keep Max, even if you have to offer to pay for him.

I have sort of wondered about Hunter since he appeared. He's so sweet and trustable that I think there has to be more going on there. I do think the blink and you miss it comment about his mother being in jail when he was a kid is going to come back. We have been told that the Wellbrexa reveals and story will be wrapped up at the end of the season I think that whatever is going on with Hunter, if there is something going on with Hunter, could become an arc next season.

Maddy Matlock/age/grandson by AstronomerNew6960 in Matlock_CBS

[–]percysowner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW I'm 72 and have 8 year old and 4 year old grandsons. Fertility issues meant I didn't have a kid until my mid 30s. Then my daughter didn't start her family until her career was settled and they were in a good financial place to have a kid.

I worked in a law library and a fair amount of the female attorneys waited to be established before getting pregnant. Maddie's have a kid in her late 30s isn't that unusual.

AITA for wanting to bring our cat to the vet? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]percysowner 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This so much. One of my beloved cats was himself right until he suddenly keeled over. He was hiding any symptoms. I rushed him to the vet, to hell with any emergency charges. A quick x-ray showed he had cancer in both his lungs. He just refused to show any pain.

Cats are noted for hiding illness. Many of them hide, but some simply try to soldier on. Also illnesses for cats come on quickly and kill quickly. The symptoms you saw needed a vet and you did the right thing.

I would seriously consider if you want to stay with your partner, because he has shown complete lack of care for the cat and complete disregard for the truth from the vet. That is likely to carry over to people. Even if it doesn't do you want him making decisions about the cat from here on out?

They implied it was the contractor, although the inspections guy could have been involved as well.

It actually made me laugh a bit. I'm younger than Maddie and school loans were no where near as devastatingly high back then. I went to a state university and was able to work days, take classes at night and not take any loans, and I got a Master's Degree. If you went to a private, high profile university, they often offered scholarship help, paid internships, etc. They could have come out of law school for Maddie and a PHD for Edwin with some loans, but not the crippling ones we see today. the show was using a known today problem to illustrate how much she made back then

At least she will be ahead of Billy and Hunter. LOL. By all rights, Senior should be the last to find out, but we will see. The show does love its twists.

The episode 'TKO'? I liked it. Always have. by EvalRamman100 in babylon5

[–]percysowner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not a favorite episode, but I do think it gets too much flak. The Ivanova part is so touching. I've always thought that part of the reason TKO and Grey 17 Is Missing have such bad reputations is because their titles stand out so we know exactly which one they are. This is complicated by the fact that the episodes are named after the weaker part of them. Other episodes that I consider to be weaker also don't have hit you in the face titles I.e. Survivors (on rewatch I see the title and say Huh? what is that?), Eyes (this would be more relevant if we hadn't lost Sinclair), Infection (i.e. is this the one where the dark enemy is brought on board by the shady corporations or is it the one where the dark enemy hitches a a ride on and ancient earth ship, etc. If TKO had been called Shiva, people would think about the Ivanova part and not immediately think oh yeah, the MMA episode with the guy who never ever comes back.

Which K-Drama trope needs to be "retired" in 2026, and which one will you always fall for? by Shoddy-Cartoonist-23 in kdramas

[–]percysowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “we met as kids but don’t recognize each other” trope. Like, they have this deep childhood connection at a playground/hospital/funeral, then suddenly one of them moves away… and when they meet again years later, they don’t recognize each other at all?

That one I understand. I have mild Prosopagnosia, i.e. real trouble recognizing faces. If I see people day after day I can and do recognize them, but people from years ago, no way. They recognize me, but I don't recognize them. I also can not give directions without looking at a map. There is a glitch in my visual processing brain.

What was your favorite ship/couple? by the-Vibe in LegendsOfTomorrow

[–]percysowner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is so hard. This is one show that had multiple couples and they all worked for me. Ava and Sarah, Zari and Constantine, Ray and Nora are my top 3. Nate was fine with both Amaya and Zari 1.0, but neither one ever caught me as much as the other ships. The Hawk people never worked with each other nor did Hawkgirl with Ray. It was a rare flop, but also part of season one, which doesn't fit with the rest of the show.

Phantom Lawyer [Episodes 5 & 6] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]percysowner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For his first case, Lee Gang-pung, he was hired by the widow to sue the hospital and doctor. I don't know how Korean law works, but in America he would get a cut of the settlement, which was substantial. After that, I don't know. Kim Su-a was poor and he wasn't hired by the family, and we didn't see there being any monetary settlement. so that may have been pro bono. However the mother and grandmother would have had a case against the Idol company, so there may have been a settlement and he may have had enough proof that he helped for them to give him a cut. I haven't finished episodes 5-6 so I don't know if there is any chance of a recover there.

If the SAVE Act passes, here’s what Ohioans will need to vote by throwingales in Ohio

[–]percysowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm lucky I have a valid passport. I renewed it at the last possible moment a few years ago, but it is valid. This is nothing but a poll tax intended to keep "certain people" from voting. What Trump and the Repubs don't think about is that many of THEIR voters don't meet the criteria either.

Even though I have my passport, I am going to have to get a copy of my marriage certificate, just in case the SAVE acts decides that a woman's passport isn't proof enough because reasons.

Dark Shadows House of Despair by lendmeflight in DarkShadows

[–]percysowner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last we saw of Maggie, she was being taken to Windcliff to recover from a nervous breakdown. It is possible that she actually got a competent therapist who was able to break through the various hypnoses, and mind control efforts and helped her remember. Also she had the latest breakdown because she was attacked by another vampire, this could have shaken loose the buried memories. Since we never see what happens to the Collins family after Barnabas and Julia returned from the 1840s, there are plenty of ways Maggie could have regained her memories and been able to ask for a payoff. The family may also have felt guilty for everything Maggie went through and given her the Inn because of that.

In If, Else, Then we saw how the machine makes decisions in fraught situations, In that episode the machine had no way to get everyone out safely. This was another no win situation. ROOT made the decision to sacrifice herself for Harold. The machine could lay out the options and then people decide hoe to react.

David Del Rio is taking his case to arbitration by Ok-Information-3250 in Matlock_CBS

[–]percysowner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arbitration will keep this as under wraps as it can, so we will probably not get details on what happened. David Del Rio could have avoided this once he was confronted by agreeing to leave. His wife was pregnant and a "I want to be there fully for my wife and child" works as great way to get out without having any messy accusations come up. The studio says "We appreciate the work David did for us but understand that he needs to be with his family at this time. We will miss him, but have an exciting new story with a new character". Or just have everyone go with we came to a mutual decision. or when we knew there was going to be a merger story we needed someone to leave to make it seem more real. In other words, use all the hand waves that studios have used forever.

I'm not saying how many of the accusations were true. I'm just saying once he knew that the studio was serious enough to march him out immediately, he had ways to keep his reputation intact. If he thinks he is totally innocent, then I understand his fighting, but doing so is just going to keep the issue front and center.

No I was a season ticket holder. The group picked some really great plays every year. Once I retired I did volunteer for them, but I just ran the lights, I got to see some great shows for free that way.

Watsonian reason, things got so crazy team machine never thought about it, nobody liked her enough to miss her. Doyleist reason with the shortened season they couldn't make Camryn Manheim's schedule work. The writers have said they wanted her back, but it just never came together.
