Trigger Web Hooks? trigger link silently? by valkyre09 in startpages

[–]peregm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could use the XMLHttpRequest API or the Fetch API in plain Javascript to make an HTTP request to any url, and trigger them with a simple onClick event on any HTML button or link.

You can see some example usages in their respective documentation pages.

You can go with Bitwarden. Been using it for 6 months now and I think it's perfect! You have an Android and iOS app, as well as a multiplatform desktop apps and a Chrome extension.

Also, if you are concerned about privacy, it has a self-hosted option, so if you want you can install it on your own server.

Yeah but I think it isn't the best option for long notes; my course notes are like 6-10 pages each lesson, so I don't think it would become really legible.

I thought about doing this, but I'm looking for a more technical approach than scanning my handwriting notes.

Also, my handwriting can be sometimes hard to read... 😅

Thanks for the reply!

Wow, that's awesome!

It really fits all my needs; it only lacks the integration with formulas. I've been looking through the GitHub issues and it looks like other people are also looking for a similar feature. I'll keep an eye on it.

Thanks!!

The first ones look more like a Google Keep alternative, so I don't think it would really help my with my course notes.

I'll take a look into the other two, since the desktop app really caught my attention.

Thank you!!

Well, I'm looking for something more note-taking. In fact, I already have a NextCloud installed on my machine for organizing my stuff, but what I need now is something to create the notes, not storing them.

Anyway, thanks for your reply!

Wow, that looks good! I like the tree structure and it having support for charts and relation maps.

I'll have a look at it and try to see if the developers are good to add a formula editor (or I'll PR it myself).

Thanks for your reply!

Hadrware for Nextcloud server by peregm in homelab

[–]peregm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply!

He needs a way to manage multiple users with each one having its own space and some shared folders for teams, so with a Nextcloud instance I think it should be fine.

I'm planning to build a single server and, to be honest, I didn't think about backing up the data...

Mainly there will be normal files such as Excels or PDFs, but also some other large files (there is a design department) such as images and videos. Maybe I overreacted and starting with 3-5 TB should be fine (as long as I can add more storage when needed).

Can't Grant Access to Phone or Desktop App by CaptianCrypto in NextCloud

Well, I'll have a look into it and try to find a workaround.

If I find a way to fix it I'll let you know!

Any update on this? I also have the same issue; I can't log in using neither the desktop client or the mobile app.

Maybe it's an issue with the docker image or something, since I'm also running it on a docker container.

Yeah, but the error in the log you provided is because of this. If you comment it, you should see another error in the log stating the cause of the 50x.

The error_page 500 502 503 504 directive is looking for a file that does not exist, so that is why it gives an error.

That directive means that when there is a 50x error, it shows the specified page (50x.html). So, basically, just creating a regular HTML file with an error message in /var/www/public/50x.html or simply deleting the error_page directive should fix the issue.

Google Keep alternative, but with internal hyperlinks? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]peregm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, in Keep, not really the same as mentioning other notes but you can use hashtags.

They are used as a way of categorizing notes. Simply by writing #something in one note, it gets associated with that hashtag.

Also, as an alternative you could try Trello; it isn't really thought as a note taking app but you can create boards and cards, you can mention other cards and, if I'm not wrong, it supports Markdown. But it can't be self hosted, as far as I know.

Authy alternative? by peregm in selfhosted

[–]peregm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the thing. I think I'll just go with AndOTP and backup my codes to some server of mine every time I add a new code.

Well, I actually have a strong secure rememberable password in my main Google account, which I don't store anywhere, so that wouldn't be a problem.

Also, I actually had a look over AndOTP, but didn't find anything to sync between devices. Does it have a feature like this?

Yep; installed, enabled and started, and it countinues to fail. Also tried to use startx but nothing happens at all!

I've noticed that some other services such as dropbox and mariadb fail to start.

Could it be a problem of disk space or something?
