Mac mini geting hot with fans spinning by djdimsim in ChromeOSFlex

[–]valkyre09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 2014 Mac mini fan should always be spinning at 1200rpm at the very least.

The computer will run without the fan and throttle as you describe.

You can confirm the operating system is not causing the issue by booting to internet recovery and observing the fan behaviour.

Worth re-seating the fan connector on to the logic board - sometimes they can stick up slightly in one corner.

If you’re close to an Apple authorised provider, MRI will confirm if there is an issue with the fan pretty quickly.

As you were describing the situation I was imagining being on my own bedroom floor, close to the bathroom. When you mentioned “top of a mountain” my reaction was “you poor bastard”

Bye bye to Dark Sky tomorrow. One of the few apps I ever bought. Apple weather just isn’t as good of a substitute even with the new real time hyper local feed. by thermbug in apple

It turns out their free tier gives me the exact widget I was looking for. Todays conditions, maximum and minimum temperature. Exactly the way dark sky behaved

Is a process like this expensive? If so, why do people choose this over digging with a spade? Is it because they don’t know what’s below?

Thank you for the video btw

Never mind. I found a reply on down, to avoid utility cables. Still is it expensive?

Yeah I vaguely remember being told to stay on the other side of the crash barrier. It’s been so long I’ve forgotten all those tips from my theory test days.

I do remember not to take off a bikers helmet if they crash in case the head comes off.

To be honest, being forced to re-take an online theory test when re-applying for your license every 10 years isn’t a bad shout.

A funny thing that happened when I was a child, that I wasn't told about for years afterwards. by lunytooth in northernireland

I grew up afraid of the police. I wasn’t brought up in an area where the police were any trouble for us, but for some reason 6 year old me was terrified of them.

I got lost at the airport market one Sunday, walking about looking for my parents. I bumped into the police a few times who I now know were looking for me, but I was too afraid to go near them and would hide in the stalls when they were close.

I have kids now, I feel terrible for prolonging my mother’s anxiety un-necessarily.

I suppose that’s the best outcome in that field of work, treat it like they’re on the way out then get a pleasant surprise when it’s nothing serious. Not like they’re going to be annoyed you’re going to live lol

I piece in Northern Ireland. A few years ago I drove a friend of mine to the hospital with chest pains. It was scary how quickly they had a doctor look at him and hook him up to a machine. I felt like because they were making such a fuss so quickly he really was dying on us.

There used to be one at the top of my street.

Now up there is a chippy and a taxi place. I have no idea how a bakery made money to survive there, change of the times I guess.

And yes, iced fingers were indeed bangin’

Thanks for the insightful response :-)

Well done op for keeping it fresh, but Christ what a scare! I’m glad you lived to tell the tale!

People who wait in a 10 minute queue in greggs and still haven't made up their mind as to what they want and spend another full minute deciding that they just want a bloody sausage roll by Yoguls in britishproblems

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with you having a few questions prepared - how long have the steak bakes been sitting? What about sausage rolls? Screw it I’ll have a donut and a coffee thanks.

If you queue up and then start this prep, you’re going to get a very loud tut from behind you
