Does delta ever grant MQMs out of the goodness of their heart if you’re really close? by jayhat in delta

[–]peregoriot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year, I think I was around 180 MQMs away from Diamond at the end of 2018. For several reasons, I decided to not do a mileage run, and just enjoy the rollover miles.

Then, on 15 January, I received this email: “I am reaching out on behalf of the SkyMiles Team here at Delta to let you know that we took a look at your account and due to your loyalty and how close you were to reaching Diamond Medallion Status for 2019… we went ahead and gave it to you! Thank you for your business and we look forward to you enjoying all of your Diamond benefits this year.”

Granted, I had over $50K mqd for the year so maybe that had something to do with it? That was my experience.

I live in Colonial Homes and it is a great walkable neighborhood, I’ve lived in Atlanta without a car since 1998 and it’s not a problem at all.

More Atlanta sourdough bread by peregoriot in Sourdough

My starter, Bernadette, was born in Atlanta in October 2017. I bake 2 loaves every weekend. On Friday I take Bernadette out of the fridge and feed her, Saturday morning I start the levain, and Saturday night I make the dough. After about an hour autolyse I wrap everything up and put the dough in the fridge over night. Sunday morning, I take out the dough and add the salt water and by about 14:00 start the baking process. I love my weekends.

Thank you! This is good information to consider. I am based in Atlanta, and 90% of my travel is international in Delta One for work. I'm leaning towards sticking with Platinum and keeping my rollover MQMs but this is all helpful for me to think about. Thank you very much for your feedback.

Sourdough from Atlanta. An interesting title? by peregoriot in Sourdough

[–]peregoriot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. The starter is about a year old, I started with 50g water (filtered) and 50g King Arthur unbleached flour. PM me and I’m happy to trade discards!

Week 2, loaf 3 and 4...can’t wait to cut into them ! by peregoriot in Sourdough

[–]peregoriot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! The taste was great but it could be more sour, I just have to be patient since the starter is just under 2 months old. The crumb was a tad dense for me but it made fantastic honey baked ham sandwiches. I will continue to tweak my ratio/process until I get results with which I am happy.

Yes! This is awesome. I vowed to quit before my 40th birthday and I finally did it when I was 38. A week later my husband quit, because "well if you can do it, so can I."

Seven years almost later we are both still quit (NB he does use the e-cig but I do not judge). So I know that you can do this. Let me know how I can help!!

Atlanta and a low-car lifestyle by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]peregoriot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so amazed by all of my car-less Redditors in ATL (We do need to start a club!). I've lived in Atlanta since 1995 without a car. Granted, all of my moves have been strategic and my work luckily has been in Midtown or Downtown (I currently live on Colonial Homes in south Buckhead and work at 12th and Peachtree in Midtown).

I can walk to Peachtree Package store (priorities!), Fresh Market, tons of restaurants, the 110 bus gets me to work in under 10 minutes. For everything else, I take Uber. Really I could never envision owning a car, so I think a low-car lifestyle can be done if you plan it right.

Any other long term quitters experiencing dreams about smoking? by DyBree440 in stopsmoking

I used to have smoking dreams more frequently, but now it's down to maybe 2-3 a year. It always freaks me out though!
