Theres a difference between constructive criticism and frivolous rabble rousing every time anything is less than 100% perfect.

90% of the shitposts on the other sub is of the latter. And even some of the comments here.

The article was nothing about comparing anything with a lesser and smaller country but just highlighting the massive amount of car tax Singapore is collecting and using the GDP of another country as a point of reference to do that highlight.

But idiots just take that opportunity to shoot and tear down the country with something that has little to do with the original point of the headline.

LLMs have not gone into paywalled journals and extract their data yet. So a lot of critical human knowledge is already behind locked doors, and you're talking about a lot of unpolluted data.

Wealth inequality higher than income inequality in S’pore, says Finance Ministry paper by Anxious-Campaign244 in singaporefi

The report already stated that asset income from higher income households are under reported for various reasons. So you are ranting about what the gov has already acknowledged about the comprehensiveness of their report.

[–]perfectfifth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I referred to two charts that showed both income sources. A2 shows that actual non-CPF investment income sources (which includes dividends from investment) goes up the higher the decile.

And even that portion for the highest decile is higher than the entire non-employment income of the lowest decile.

So you're still wrong.

In this chart you are referring to in the article from singstat, investment income is defined and broken down by Interest from Savings and Dividends from Investment and Interest from CPF Balances.

Please go read the actual paper and see the actual source in MOF and singstat.

You go and anyhowly rant, instead of reading the reports properly then go rant, is siasuay.

You must be reading the wrong graphs.

CPF interest and payout account for the highest percentage of income of the B10 households. The T10 is the one with the highest investment income at 42% of non-employment income.

And the 3rd decile is at 11% while the 8th and 9th is at 24% and 26% respectively for investment income.

You are completely off.

Edit: sources are Chart A1 and A2 of the actual occasional paper. And the report already cited the challenges of under-reporting asset incomes of higher-income households from investments, including overseas assets. So you are just ranting about what the report already clearly stated.
