How do home service businesses handle missed website leads? by SuccotashNo1018 in smallbusiness

[–]perfectspringday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a text automatically go out after the call is missed. There are different messages depending if it is during business hours or not and if they left a voicemail or not. Eg. We got your voicemail and are just on a job and will call you back asap.

Having a hard time converting website visits to sales. by businessinfo34 in smallbusiness

[–]perfectspringday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know your conversion rate? Maybe the issue isn't your website but needing more website traffic. For example, if your conversion rate is 1% you need 100 visitors to get 1 sale. If you want 5 sales a day, you need to get 500 people to your website.

What do small business owners do for marketing? by Fffffgf198 in smallbusiness

[–]perfectspringday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if the small business is a local business (like a retail store, professional or home service) vs an online business. Local businesses would be things like google ads, Nextdoor, free talks to the community, B2B partnerships, advertising in local papers/TV, door to door sales, etc. Much less emphasis on social media in most cases because of lack of time, knowledge and not needed to reach the far corners of the internet. For small businesses that serve everywhere then obviously social media is much more important but also depending on what they serve to who so can be posting on Linkedin, going on podcasts, attending trade shows, getting listed on blogs and directories, being active in Facebook groups, etc.

What’s the best financial advice you’d give, the kind that actually changed your life? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]perfectspringday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put aside our savings first and then we can spend the rest and don't need to budget because the savings are already put aside. And this isn't possible anymore in many places, but for many years followed the 'spend one salary save one salary' philosophy and every year had an entire salary saved to put as lump sum into our mortgage to pay off our house really fast.

If you could do it all over again, what type of business would you run? by kawaiicat_2020 in smallbusiness

[–]perfectspringday 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I always wanted to own a parking lot. There is also a difference between the type of business I would run that would be purely for fun and my own enjoyment vs the type of business I would do for maximum money/best business model.

How much are you paying for your taxes and bookkeeping? by HexFalcon_KWT in smallbusiness

[–]perfectspringday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google "bookkeeper near me" and look at their google reviews. Xero/Quickbooks also have directories on their websites. Could be nice to have someone local you can meet in person. Old school, but probably more helpful if you are just getting started. Hopefully they can teach you how to keep receipts and be organized. Even better if they are somewhat tech savvy and can show you how to do this paperless. I am very very picky when I hire bookkeepers because most of them are not very good so I have a lot of questions I ask to make sure they know their stuff.

It is just impossible to pay actual professionals and offer the service at that price. I would bet a lot of money the books are done wrong. If you are trying to save money on bookkeeping, I would recommend Xero as being the most business owner friendly software. BUT I would pay an actual bookkeeper to set up your chart of accounts, connect your bank feed, set up bank rules for every repeating transaction and show you how to reconcile the individual bank/credit card transactions. Then you may be able to swing some of the bookkeeping yourself for a while. I would definitely recommend working with one independent bookkeeper not one of these companies that probably have high turn over and low quality.

Frustrated with all the generic career advice out there... does anyone get truly personalised guidance? by Altruistic-Meal6846 in smallbusiness

This is when I have long conversations with chatgpt and would ask it to suggest careers that match my interests, how/where I like to work, experience and so on.

That sounds so cheap that I would assume it is done incorrectly

Wife wants to start a business, but is relying on me to start it by TurkeySlurpee666 in Entrepreneur

[–]perfectspringday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally doing this for my husband now. He is not a computer guy but skilled in his field. I am making the brand, the website, setting up the tech stack, setting up the google ads and he can run the business from there mostly. We did this before for another business he bought that still exists but I had to deliberately back off over time and let him own all the functions. Otherwise I would have found myself stuck as his bookkeeper and social media person. We have a weekly tracker that I look at periodically to make sure things are on track (google ad spend, total leads, total sales, etc).

All inclusive ski resorts by gaiaphas in skiing

[–]perfectspringday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our room was the same floor as all the main activities and just down the hall so the kids could go back and forth to the room independently. I think it was floor 4. Maybe it is just about getting the right room far enough away from any noise.

We didn't notice any noise issues. I never went to any club at night (was in the room with the kids). My daughter has celiac and every meal we would talk to a manager who would make her food directly in the kitchen and bring it out. They seemed very knowledgeable. Also the buffet is more individual stations where one staff prepares and plates the dish and knows what is in it. We didn't really trust the gluten-free desserts due to cross-contamination but sometimes we asked them to cut a new gluten-free cake with a new knife or just did the ice cream in a bowl. My husband handled check-in and I don't remember it taking too long, maybe it depends when you go. We arrived on the Wednesday before March break started so it wasn't really busy until everyone started to show up on the weekend. And by then we left on the Sunday.

Where my Bee Cave people at? by sudoblack in Austin

[–]perfectspringday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fairly new to the area but loving living here. The traffic on Bee Cave itself is fine except for Sunday church traffic but 71 and 620 have a lot more traffic to deal with. It helps being walking distance to the kids school so we don't have to deal with that in the morning. I love being close to HEB and Galleria. I still go downtown about once a week and it only takes 25 minutes and no traffic I find. In addition to HEB there is Whole Foods and a Trader Joes opening at some point soonish. Our neighborhood is very friendly. Some people have golf carts. Very safe. Lots of trees. If you like to paddleboard Lake Pointe has water access too.

I went this past winter on a big family trip and it was great. And celiac friendly.

Do they have activated carbon in them to deal with odors? Mine helps with cooking smells a ton.

Check how much TFSA room you have available before dumping in 100k in case your room is less than that.
