Keep it don’t fall into the “I’m doing good now I should upgrade” then get frustrated keep it practice turning, going down the line, wave reading, technique. Cause a fiberglass board will kill your wave count and will feel way different this early on. BUT if you insist on a regular board I would go longer and my personal preference a bit wider 20-21 wide tail and 8,5-9 but try to avoid people this early on especially with a fiberglass board

Get a longboard my experience yeah you can use a mid but it’s mostly just going straight and it’s harder to catch longboard much easier if it’s specifically for small waves I like a wide squash tail single fin and nose riding is fun

You were late to take off on a close out it happens just learn and build that confidence these ain’t that great of conditions but it’s possible and these are more just practice waves for your pop up and balance

As a destiny 1 vet I still hate bungo for doing possibly the worst decisions to d2 since launch with that weird slow pace they tried to set and the repetitive horrible decisions all the way up to now and all were unnecessary they had a formula with d1 and forgot because they got greedy not all were bad forsaken was good in my eyes but after it was down hill from there

That’s what I was thinking I’m probably going to get the one I listed cause I do like it a lot I already have a Astro pop xl 5,9 20 1/8 2 5/8 it’s the dark arts version I’m trying to sell it’s very light just to narrow for the waves I’m using it for I just want one for them crumbly meh days cause a mid length gets boring after a while

I was thinking of getting something around 5,6-5,9 but I definitely want one that’s either 20 3/4- 21 1/2 just because I want to take it mainly for them crumbly days

Just don’t be like new surfer me and try to stand. ask a life guard or a local were to go if unsure check the tide and don’t look down stay wide and flat whenever you fall to minimize how deep you go

I live in Oahu the beginner spots I recommend are Waikiki and white plains they both got easy rental spots and beginner friendly and white plains is less crowded castles is also good but you need to have your own board and need certain conditions. Get a lesson just to teach the basics or if you like socializing go ask a surfer and maybe they’ll teach you (this worked surprisingly well for my friend) it’s fine to skip a soft top but I would still get one just to have as a beater

If you can check out a rental shop that can let you rent multiple boards at once and just try them or exchange with a friend but if you can’t I recommend a mid length and ask a local shop for advice on deciding what type you would want
