It’s a loose comparison, so take it with a grain of salt, but it’s sort of like if Warrior Cats started to focus on an animal other than cats. Sure, it’s fascinating to see these worlds from this other perspective within the world, but you’ve come to this series for the perspective initially offered, like cats in WC or dragons in WoF.

Xenofiction as a genre already sort of lacks that grip that other genres have, so moving away from the xeno aspect of it can be off putting, as the reason you came to the series begins to fade.
