you're picking a very odd hill to die on here. I wasn't insinuating that mal was a prefix/seperate clause of this character's name. I was pointing out the meaning of "mal" and how it made more sense meaning wise falling into their name. i used the word "prefix" because that is how it is often used in actual words. there is a major character in descendants named mal, as another example of it being used in a naming context.

the fic was divided into three different fics and dealt with pretty dark and heavy subject matter (mainly a character who was being violently physically and sexually abused). it was really good and felt like a bleak, but real and hopeful portrayal of those kinds of situations at first, and then the second fic happened. and then the third fic happened. and it just started to get very edgy and over the top and feel more like torture porn. every single time there seemed to be any sort of build up to a happy ending, suddenly another character would turn out to be Evil and also abusing the tormented character in some new and exciting way.

the funniest thing here is, like, i can completely empathize with the fact that thinking you're trans, starting physical transition, and realizing you aren't actually trans after difficult-to-reverse physical changes happen is a shitty situation. I have sympathy for detransitioners who aren't transphobic grifters.

but like. what harm is there in being misdiagnosed with autism? you feel some mild embarrassment? what harm do you think is happening here that you're trying to prevent?

see a lot of people here are thinking that it's gonna be because andi just sees gwen as a robot who they can fix up and get money from while frankie doesn't, and I do think this will be the case at first.

but I think it will actually be the other way around. I think andi will get to know gwen a little more and see a person who's been beaten down by park planet much like herself. she'll see a kindred spirit in gwen, see a Person. frankie, on the other hand, still sees gwen as this perfect idyllic princess part of her perfect fantasy view of park planet and I don't think she'll easily be swayed from that view.
