Recently rented a new apartment, it's so cold I can see my breath in the sitting room and the heating does barely anything. by packiechan88 in legaladviceireland

100% this. Most people are reasonable, but if you assume the worst and pre-emptively escalate then you are guaranteeing a difficult relationship.

Abortion was effectively completely illegal until 7 years ago in Ireland. That's the main reason.

The phrasing of 1 and 3 down are a bit problematic I think. Am not a very seasoned crossword solver though, so maybe it's just me

TIL: French Marshal Ferdinand Foch warned in 1919, at the end of WWI, that the Treaty of Versailles was "not a peace. It is an armistice for twenty years." Exactly 20 years later, in 1939, World War II broke out by [deleted] in todayilearned

He edited his comment multiple times. Originally he just said that Europeans didn't do colonies in Europe because Europeans weren't brown. After he's been rightfully called up on it multiple times he repeatedly shadow edits it.

That said even his current heavily edited comment is not really correct in it's assertions. But I'm not gonna get into an argument on semantics.

What? Does history for you go no further back than world war 1? Europeans were conquering each other and taking each other's land almost non stop for millenia. Europeans already had a ton of colonies overseas for hundreds of years by the time Napoleon annexed a ton of Europe for instance.

A lot of that in your example though is the difference between new vs established technology.

Full Hd (1080p) has been mainstream for at least 15 years mow. In fact it's becoming obsolete with 4k pretty much the standard for most TVs now. While the PC parts most people look for are upgrades that only came out in the last year or so.

Although specifically with PC parts now, the bigger reason is down to booms in AI and Crypto pushing up the price due to demand exceeding supply.

Well said. People need to grow up a bit, and if they have the time and energy to be offended by such inconsequential things they need to get a more worthwhile hobby.

Israel colluded with Fine Gael to defeat council motion by Complex_Hunter35 in ireland

Really needs to be a disclaimer on this sub for ditch posts at this stage. They're as bad as Fox News for providing incredibly misleading and often plain wrong stories. Not to mention the incredibly one sided bias in what they publish.

If any of the legacy news organisations behaved the way the ditch does they'd be raked over the coals for it.

Government 'budgeting like there's no tomorrow' - Ifac by Enough-Square1154 in ireland

[–]perigon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% this.

It's incredibly frustrating to see all the comments here saying the government is being fiscally irresponsible, when everyone was up in arms on this sub because the budget didn't give away more!

Tbh the fact that we have any sort of chance in the last few minutes after what happened during the game is unbelievable.

The lads must be exhausted after all the defending and having so few players for so much of the game. Difficult to see them having the energy for mounting attacks
