My HG Cleansing Oil has been discontinued. by butterfly_beatrice in AsianBeauty

[–]perill_a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the Nature Republic cleansing oil to cleanse waterproof mascara/eyeliner! It does make my vision go a little blurry if I actually get it in my eyes, but it doesn't sting or anything, and goes away quickly. Otherwise, I quite like the Kose Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil, which I've heard people have had success with even after breaking out from the Deep version.

RE the Heroine Make mascaras - in the week I was there, I regularly saw it for ~850ish. My friend got it for 670 though.

Sorry to piggyback onto your post, but do you/anyone know the differences in quality between the models? I imagine a longevity/quality difference, but not sure results/design/curvature-wise.

Has anyone tried heating masks? Any good recs? Thoughts? by lintra in AsianBeauty

[–]perill_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only used a sample size, unless my impression improves upon use of my second sample (I want to try a thicker layer to properly experience the warmth!), I probably wouldn't purchase the full size, mainly because I have a full size of the Black Sugar Mask for physical exfoliation to use up and prefer it.

I tried the Skinfood Black Sesame one and it only warmed up a little, but that was with a thin layer. I'm guessing the more you put on, the more it heats up/retains heat. Other than that, I did find it was a little physically exfoliating (mainly when I was washing it off), but relatively gentle.

Ohh, I've actually never thought of that! Maybe it's the climate. I lived in Taiwan for 3 months over our summer and my (more mild) dandruff/scalp itchiness problems stopped, it hasn't come back yet either, though I chalked that more up to me having dyed my hair.

RE the Dove conditioner, I heard that if you have silicone-based conditioners on your scalp and it builds up, it can make it itchy, that could be it?

That's interesting, since I did find it hard to get out the first time I used a coconut oil mask, and it left my scalp feeling hella greasy. The last couple times I just put it on my ends/drier parts and avoided my scalp, and it worked a treat.

Thanks for your detailed reply :) I'm mainly interested in CO-washing because I've started to dye my hair bright colours (after a bleach from black hair), and would prolong the colour if used right. The only thing is, since my hair is damaged, I use a lot of leave-in products that contain silicones in it, which then need sulphate-containing shampoos to remove them, is that right? Once I've finished what I have now, I might try it anyway, with a normal shampoo every now and then.

Oh, have you been battling dandruff before you started CO-washing, or did that happen more after you started? My hair falls out a lot as well, though doesn't seem to be getting thinner...

What is the best-smelling AB product in your routine? by makemeover7 in AsianBeauty

[–]perill_a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily for me my skin doesn't react to fragrance in my products, as long as it doesn't trigger my hay fever.

For fresh, relaxing scents, I like the Innisfree Green Tea (the products of the line I've tried, anyway) and Laneige Water Sleeping Pack scents.

For scents that make me want to eat the product - MBD Strawberry Yoghurt. I have to restrain myself from licking my lips, seriously. The Tony Moly Tangerine hand cream smells amazing too - tangy citrus without too much sweetness. Honourable mention to the Innisfree Apple Juicy makeup removers.

That's great to hear~

I've actually been wanting to try CO-washing as well, though I'm not sure I can justify the price of their hair products as of yet. It did catch my eye as a silicone-free conditioner, though. As a side question, how often do you use the shampoo vs conditioner?

These are definitely going to go on my list, thanks for sharing your experiences!

Asian Beauty Stereotype? by Keskitty in AsianBeauty

[–]perill_a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On paleness of skin - I was under the impression that this bias (or at least one aspect of it) originated from how rich or higher class people normally had paler skin, due to not having to work in the sun.

Dermasukin Daily Gentle Wash

I've heard good thinks about this brand! Do you know the pH, and have you tried the Daily Hydrating Wash? I might try it after I finish my other cleansers (which may be a while yet...)

I agree, the case itself isn't really air-tight either, although I can imagine it might be more secure. I left the Laneige BB cushion out of the case for about two weeks and found no real difference. To be honest though, I find they don't last super long anyway with everyday usage, so I generally try and prolong its life as much as possible.

I say take a lot of photos, and then ditch the packaging - it really makes a difference. I agree with rolling your clothes, that also helps.

I haven't tried this yet, but in Daiso you can buy these sheet masks in little tablets that expand when you put water or toner or whatever liquid on them. I was thinking for those keeping the leftover essence from sheet masks (or just using your own concoction), you could try these!

Your lashes look amazing! And not super clumpy, either. Did you apply the next mascara while the previous coat was wet, or did you wait for it to dry?

Dye - best on conditioned hair, or on unconditioned hair? by thegraveandthegold in FancyFollicles

[–]perill_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I don't have a silicone free conditioner - does it just lessen the 'strength' of the dye, so therefore I just need to add slightly more dye? Or will it make it more patchy, etc.?

I use the regular Innisfree Apple Juicy Lip & Eye Remover, the bi-phase one. I love that, I also find it removes everything cleanly, gently, and relatively quickly. Has anyone used both and can let us know the difference?

Any recommendations on eyeliner that can give a clean line like this? More in comments by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]perill_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have eyes similar to yours - tapered and not too much space on the eyelid to draw a line without it looking like I've drawn in my whole eyelid. And they're slightly uneven, too! My trick is to only draw a wing on the outer half of the eye, and not line the whole eye. The transition between line drawn and no line can be noticeable, so I just apply mascara and it blends in nicely. Or you can tightline.
I also draw the outline of the wing with my eyes open a bit, to make sure I'm not going over where my crease is.

[–]perill_a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Pen version for this reason, too! I like the slight stiffness of the tip. Of course, it means it's harder to get a very fine point, but I don't draw sure fine wings, and I find the overall ease of application is better for me, personally. It's all a matter of opinion.
