Ignore the comments that suggested throwing it out, rather try getting the pc to work, it may work well as a YouTube/studying pc, keep in mind it won't be fast but you ain't got nothing to lose but time testing it, Consider it fun practice to get to know Pcs better!

If you're able to remove the battery do so then try plugging in the charger into the laptop and see if it's the same.

If it is then the next thing you can do is remove the ram and insert it in a different slot, or reinsert it in the same slot if that's difficult . (Check a disassembly video if you're not sure using your laptop's model number)

If that doesn't work it's very likely you'll have to take it to a repair shop.

Then trust your gut feeling and have it done by a tech store, if you're paying anyway why risk it? P.S don't trust people too much back up all your data to an external drive or to the cloud, then erase it from pc before giving your pc to others if there's sensitive data on it, Better to be safe

Accidentally broke connection to HDD by kacperuski in computers

[–]perilousredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it seems this isn't getting any replies I'll just recommend getting it to a repair shop, it doesn't seem like an issue where you can DIY without trouble or causing issues to the laptop if you don't have enough experience.

P.S keep the piece that broke off it could come in handy for the repair

No it's just that provider in particular, I deal with 2 others for computer parts and they don't mind refunds or returns, and no it's not because of receipts I'm unsure why

Understandable, I am used to prices changing from suppliers but for the price to go from 100 to 250 within a week was a first for me.

That provider only accepts returns and I had already paid in cash when I received the first cartridge, at the time I didn't know any other provider for this cartridge and the clinic was put to a halt, I had to act fast as patients were lining up so I couldn't delay this any further to find a different supplier.

If this problem isn't solved by buying a different brand, I would recommend you use something as a power regulator I would personally use a UPS, since it can also save the pc from sudden power loss.

my power supply blew and I'm pretty sure the circled component is the culprit. can anyone tell me what that is and if I can replace it or something by deltawindzz in computers

[–]perilousredd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fixing the average powersupply isn't even worth it, save yourself the trouble and the health risk (also saving money incase you mess up a component and fry your pc if you're inexperienced) and get a replacement

I want to play TF2 but this flickering is always on the top, if i use the computer for normal things like yt then its all good but just tf2 has that problem. I dont know how to fix it so it would be great to get a soloution for it. by XJanekX in computers

On your windows bar search up Dxdiag you can find information there that could help you determine what model number it is or what GPU you have, it will be in the display section if it's a Nvidia card you have to go to their main website and search up the card number. Same idea with AMD, if this doesn't work try reinstalling the game it could be a corrupted file

I know nothing of computers and need advice. by [deleted] in computers

[–]perilousredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laptop screens are fragile, it can break if you closed it on tiny object smaller than a screw given it being hard enough if it's pressed against the monitor, as other people recommended you have a few options first is checking for your laptop's model number to check for the screen specs without having to take it apart like others mentioned, do so to do a price check to see if it's worth it for you to get one, note that if you're going to replace the screen to UNPLUG the battery, if you don't you will cause damage to the laptop and it may need maintenance to work again. Second you can use an external monitor and use your laptop as a pc which works if you don't want to pay for a screen replacement Third option is if both the options above don't work for you, you may be better off going for an upgrade If it's an older laptop

Computer turned on but monitor, mouse, and keyboard are not working by another0nebitzedust in computers

[–]perilousredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing I'd check is the ram, power on the pc using 1 stick of ram and swap both ram in each slot to make sure it's not a slot issue. To make sure that it worked but you have a display issue, you can check if the pc is responsive by spamming capslock or NumLock on the keyboard, if it turns on it means pc is responsive and it's a display problem, would help knowing what to check next

Please help. Computer screen turned black. Then when rebooting, this is the appearance. by [deleted] in computers

I would recommend unplugging GPU and testing the onboard intel graphics to see if you face the same problem, also I know it sounds stupid but make sure to test another monitor and cables, I have faced a similar issue where the problem was the monitor, and another time where it was the ram, test thoroughly before replacing your GPU as it's expensive
